Yes, we were desperate for a signing so partly we were glad to get anyone and partly we said, Who?

Yeah, Peach dropped the line of "there's a player at St. Mary's signing on loan...".

In fact I remember that one well as I was the first to dig up the Jos story!

    He also had offers from:

    Coventry City
    Crystal Palace
    Ipswich Town

And everyone still continued to run around like headless chickens afterwards, until we found he could actually play <laugh>

Remember his first interview in the dressing room...quite bonkers so at home with Adkins.

His interview from last season was interesting. Said there were sleeping issues on away games. Players were paired up in twin rooms and often the younger players would end up with the older ones and they had notably different pre-match rituals. Jos said a number of senior players went to Adkins and explained the issue, and consulted the Chairman and they took note of it and booked everyone a single room. We won 5 of the 6 away games after that!

Huddlestones move to Stoke has fallen through - season long loan, would be a decent bit of experience, worth a shot?

No, he isn't very good and we don't need somebody in his position.

he is a really good player - combative, strong, tall and pulls the strings, dont see why he wouldnt be a good loan addition?

Huddlestone would be a great loan signing.

He's one of the most overrated players in the league. The fact he's big and strong doesn't make him a good player, and "pulls the strings"? Erm.

But you know, if you think it's a good idea to pay his wages to take up space in the physio's office and not add much to the team on the occasions he is fit - other than potentially blocking playing time for young players like Morgan, Cork and JWP - then it's great!! He might score one of his very occasional long shots for us!

He has had a bad time with injury of late but he had reportedly passed a medical With Stoke so one would assume he must be fit? Anyway is that not the beauty of a "loan deal". I am fully behind bringing the youngsters through like Ward-Prowse and I think he has a part to play this year but I also think signing someone like Huddlestone with experience from a good team like Spurs would do us good!

Huddlestone would've been good for Stoke, but he's not the kind of player we're looking for at all. Maybe if he can go somewhere like that and get his career back on track, then I'll be saying he's a good player in a couple of years time, but for now he's not good enough for us and he's barely improved since he was 18.

I think he's a decent player, one of the best long passers in the premier league, but that's not the way we play, and he is a bit of a luxury player considering he doesn't really get around the pitch much.

Joe exactly. He could certainly add something to Stoke, as could Charlie Adam. The 'overated' factor is that people obviously want him to justify his potential and there are the occasional series of game when it's seems it's the case; then he's injured or looses his place.

Huddlestone is a good player, but his favourite place is the physio's room

We don't need a CM anyway though, we have good depth there

Adam Johnson sings for Sunderland. Well, that's it then. No more quality wingers left. I'll leave my season ticket at the ground after the game tomorrow.
