Population is going crazy. We fight wars, kill each other off in all manner of ways, nature tries her best to throw up a natural catastrophe from time to time etc, yet the human numbers on the globe continue to expand at an alarming rate. So much so, that for every five birth that take place, only two people die. Hardly a balancing of the books. A mere 250 years ago, the population grew at around 67,000 people per year, now that number is spat out every 7 hours. With the advancement of communications and the like, nearly everyone on the planet can get a look at the good life we in the first world enjoy, and now they want the same as well. Although it's unrealistic to believe that they can attain that standard of living, they nevertheless want considerably more than they have now. And who can blame them? So we're all sitting back and watching it begin to unfold. China wants more, as does India. African Nations desire a better living standard, we ourselves want more, so just how much can Gaia endure before she finally says? "Enough is enough!" What does the future hold for future generations?
Wur doomed. Doomed I tell yea. I sometimes wonder if I should give up on recycling, getting the bus, being a vegetarian etc. I do all these things in the hope that the future is better for the next generation and beyond but when you see parents driving their kids to school in people carriers, governments building new airports everywhere, countries all over the planet INCREASING their output of climate damaging gases etc. I do wonder why the **** I should bother.
Yeah I know what you mean. We all want to get to the airport quicker, travel faster and cheaper, have all the latest gadgets, but we tell ourselves we're doing the right thing by the planet, by recycling our tins and bottles.
i,m a child of the sixties, and i wouldn't want to live in the future,i belive it will be a grim place.
well worth a watch if anyone hasn't seen this:
I too am a child of the 60s mate. Posting here that I was into flower power is fraught with danger, but what the heck. I loved those days, but I like today better. I am alive today because of a science that wasn't around in those days, I enjoy chatting to you on this new fangled thing that seems to send instant messages across time and space. But as you've intimated, the future might not be quite as rosy for those who come after us. Technology will be wonderful, but what will the atmosphere be like?
EVERYONE on the planet could live in France if a city style layout was replicated throughout the country.
Over population is the biggest threat to the planet, we are getting through natural resources at an alarming rate and the only way to control this is to give up reproductive intercourse and insist on oral or anal. Remember, up the bum - no babies. 7billion people on the planet and still ER can't get his hole.
You'd need a singularly minded ultra-bigot to pull that off. Where would the Germans get one of those?
Honestly I really dont want to **** you up the dung funnel. Stop hinting sonny, aint going to happen.
Then they tried to rule over us financially. That currently ain't working out so well for them either. The other Euro countries are gonny bankrupt them. Germany: "Gies oor money" Greece: "Get it up ye's"
