MARTIN REEVES! Pure garbage. Would Nicky Forster get on the list too? As well as Jamie Wood, Phil Jevons, Owen Morrison, Big Kevin Francis, Folan in his first spell, and I'm sure there's one or two others closer to the time.
Nicky Forster definitely shouldn't make the list, 6 in 37 was not completely disastrous(particularly as he was played out wide some of the time) and he came 2nd in our player of the year awards.
Folan's first spell was one game! Francis scored 5 in 24 games, not a terrible strike rate really, and Owen Morrison was a winger.
That was the season before last, last season he was at Hereford and played most games, but he was released at the end of the season and is currently without a club.
It seems like all strikers we sign take ages to get going. Even if they are decent players they always score their first goal after about 20 games
I was talking at the Rotherham game about how many strikers Peter Taylor signed for us, and how many were actually a success? Burgess, Allsopp and Parkin would be the only three off the top of my head who definitely did a good job for us, but there could be plenty more I've forgotten!
Theres some truth in that, I go back to the eighties following us and can't remember a lot of strikers instantly scoring a lot of goals apart from the likes of Campbell (reply to premier league)
Daryl Duffy was hopeless. Can we class our 'next big thing' strikers in this list. If so Donaldson, Bradshaw, Ekra and Featherstone deserve a mention. That said they were never really given games. Aaron Wilbraham was another Donkey. If we ignore the strikers part and just go for players with reputations that were ****e, then Surley It's a close tie between Richie Appelby and Dave Bamber?
Jamie Forrester did okay considering he was third choice behind Burgess and Allsopp for most of time he was at City.
Duffy was definitely hopeless, Donaldson has done okay since he left us, Ekra never really got a look in(but has done nothing since he left us) and Featherstone wasn't really a striker.
Forrester's goal against Northampton in our Promotion Season from the old Division 3 when we thumped - the then Promotion favourites - them 5 - 1 I think it was... where a pass was aimed at him, he ran towards it, dummied taking on, went round the defender as the City player who received the ball then fed him through for him to score. Hard to explain and I can't find a video but it was a great goal.
Remember Andy Mason? One of those bullshit, no mark reserve and junior players Terry Dolan would sign in the midish nineties. Allegedly he was a striker.
have to veto alex dyer. he didn't arrive as a striker. in 86-87 we were 3rd bottom with four games left and one win in ten games. dyer went and asked horton if he could play up front. horton made him centre forward for the last four games. he scored four goals and we got 3 wins and a draw and stayed up.
It's on one of my videos I'm certain, check youtube boothferrylegend35 and it's on promotion no1 but can't check at moment
