According to Sky Sports, Ricardo Fuller's management company have announced we have signed him on a free transfer. This is very good news i feel, as after Hayes leaving for Brentford we needed someone to step in. Fuller has proven quality at Championship level, and after winning promotion with Stoke is an ideal man to have as cover. Sad Hayes did not get the chance to carry on his promising start to his Charlton career but what is done is done. I wish him well with the rest of his career. As for tonight, Kermo hat-trick would feel like heaven. COYR!
Always like Fuller as he's a Football Manager legend. Can't see him playing with Kermo though so he will very much be 3rd choice surely? Definitley makes out bench look stronger.
Fuller has (had?) premiership pedigree not too long ago. He is capable I some wonderful things, but there is another side to him. His knees are pretty shot and has had several bust ups with previous managers and also ha some needless red cards. Will be a big test for CP. if he gets him firing and fit, I think mid table is a certainty.
Think he is being seen as cover for Kermit, Haynes as cover for BWP. That is how i would be doing it anyway, although in tough games where the lump it up mentality is needed Kermo and Fuller up front would be a very physical combo. Very good signing imo
Apparently CP found out about his availability at a press thing last Thursday and knows him well. Surely he would not sign him if he expected problems. In CP we trust.
I am confused about one thing - if we were anxious to see Paul Hayes off the books, even on a free, as he was 'one of the top earners' - why then sign a player on a free who must be on the same, if not more? Having said that, I've always liked Fuller, very pleased to see him arrive (apparently).
Maybe we could sign Bolt for the right wing? I heard he has a bit of pace. (And his end product couldn't be much worse than what we have now)
Probably because Hayes isn't good enough to push Kermorgant for the support-striker role, nor is he suited to play the 'goalscorer' role. Fuller has the strength and hold-up ability to play the Kermit role, and the speed and technical ability to play the BWP role. Anyone read his interview on the OS? Bordering on big-headed, but it feels great to have a striker with confidence in his own ability playing for us, after years of Chris Dicksons, Izale McLeods and David Mooneys, ****ting themselves every time they're presented with a chance.
Yes, in CP we trust. We just don't mention Leon Clarke!! Good signing if his injury issues are sorted, ditto Dervite. Neither are on long-term contracts, so I think it's a good plan to get them signed up for a year and then look to an extension in January if they pay off. If not, we've only lost a season's salary, and the potential benefit is huge. Fuller has some serious experience, hopefully he's calmed down from whatever caused him to stamp on Ivanovic... bringing him in against Palace might be a risk!
