I'm not actually keen on choc-ices. I am partial to a magnum however, but they are much better quality than your average choc-ice <ok>

De Gea is a shot stopper, that's his forte like most young keepers it's their main attribute. The rest he will have to master as he gets older and gets experience. Even the mighty Joe Hart makes bad decisions you don't see if nothing comes of it which is often the case. What De Gea has shown is strength of character which will see him through tough times as he will have them, he doesn't have the sheer bulk to command ala Peter or Edwin with the latter commanding in a different way by commanding his defenders and using his height where as schmeichel could compete with the biggest forwards man for man but just roared at defenders a lot after the fact rather than commanded proactively:) So De Gea will probably not let mistakes ruin him ala Robinson and James and when he gets better understanding with consistently present CBs his command over his area will improve as it will also with experience <ok>

De Gea needs to be in command of the players in front of him, CBs and Keeper play as a defensive unit on set pieces and certain threats such as the big giant blue Avatar thingy.

I wonder what calling someone a Magnum would imply in race terms? A black man pretending to be a posh white bloke?

OP is talking out of his arse, but that's standard for stan. Fellaini met the ball about 9 yards from goal, right in the middle of no man's land. And it was a driven cross as well, so even less time to judge the flight and reach it. Schmeichel is the only keeper I've ever seen consistently come out and go for those ones, and even he made a couple of mistakes when he did. Keeper commands the six yard box, defenders deal with the rest of the penalty area.

As for the rest of it, De Gea had a better second half of the season than Cech and Reina last year, and has shown great form thus far this season, but it's still hard to definitively pick one. Cech has been a bit shaky, Reina even more so, but both still have more experience, and more importantly a longer relationship with their CBs (although you wouldn't have thought it watching Liverpool last weekend <whistle>). Once De Gea has had more time to play and train with the players in front of him I think the command of the area will come - he spent most of last season getting used to playing with Rio and Evans, then comes back for the new season and has to start again from square one with Vidic and Carrick!

He isn't as good as he was before his injury but it's understandable why, he's still a world class keeper and better than De Gea. **** me are you two really this stupid?

<laugh> Spot on, how about a double caramel magnum? Mind = blown

Wouldnt say Cech is world class to be honest. Not anymore anyway.

A man city keeper once broke his back and carried on playing so I dont think Cech has an excuse drogs. <laugh>

What is this? A sensible post from BBF?

I think once we have a younger set of CBs in front of De Gea, he'll be more comfortable bossing people around. I imagine he's scared about bossing Vidic and Rio around. Back in the day when I was about 15, I played keeper for my dads Sunday league team and I was scared ****less of barking out orders to my dad and his friends. Wouldn't surprise me if De Gea feels the same way about commanding some of the players on our team.

Lol at the irony. Chelsea fan slates keeper, next match the Chelsea keeper drops an absolute howler <laugh>

stan, can you make a thread saying our entire team is **** right before we play you? <ok>

That's true, but he was also a major cause of a lot of dropped points in the league. Still a good keeper, but I wonder if Chelsea fans are biased by how good he used to be, and the massive performances he put in before the injury. If he was a keeper you'd only bought a year ago, then I think he'd get a lot more stick for the mistakes he has made over the last year.

    Laughing @ drogs.

Cech makes too many fkn stupid mistakes to be called world calss, WC keepers make 1 2 silly mistakes a year or longer apart. Cech is guarenteed several a season even before the injury. Imposing but when he flaps he fkn flaps. Its all or nothing with that guy, very good mainly but sometimes very poor

By your estimation maybe. One that doesn't go against your beliefs and it is sensible if it does not match what you believe it is senseless?

    Closed mind much <laugh>

Honestly think I would rather have De Gea than Cech, Cechs never going to get better, only worse while De Gea is one of the best shot stoppers in the league and will only get better with age. He will be Spains number one soon enough.

Cech is prone to serious flapping, De Gea has had a moment and it doesn't seem to have affected him at all.

All players get injured, only some lose their bottle after it, Cech lost his after the head injury, lets call a spade a spade. I don't think every keeper would react the same way and saying that is why cech fks up just makes me <doh> at the chavs. He fks up cos he aint all that great, Cech's fkups are epic usually, like letting in Babel's shot from 50 yards <laugh>

De Gea was at fault for no goal. To suggest as much is ludicrous, he pulled off at least 3 world class saves. If anyone was at fault, it was Vidic as it was Vidic and not Carrick that should have been marking Felliani. Vidic being the more imposing of the two.

Anyone remember the co commentator having a right go at De Gea over him tipping a header from Pienaar over rather than catching it. The **** was that about?
