http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/p...ord-owner-interested-in-pompey-deal-1-4189790 Surely if the rumours are true and we were taken so close to admin the FL should be disqualifying him as a potential owner, what on earth is the fit and proper test?
Possibly the hardest part for the FL would be proving that the rumours were actually true and not just unsubstantiated rumours? Even then, he may argue that he has learnt from his mistakes - we're all entitled to that. Have to admit though, Pompey's survival prospects would probably recede somewhat were he to be successful - I hope their Supporters' Trust get the nod.
Does that mean his daughter likes sailing, so it will give her something to do on a Saturday Afternoon while Daddy is at the match?
Poor deluded silly man, if the rumour was true about the transfer embargo due to unpaid HMRC taxes I cant see how he could honestly pass the fit and proper test this time round, the FA would have had to know to put in and then lift the embargo. He will be in for Rangers next, he has always been a life long Rangers fan I hear....
Right, this has encouraged me to complete one of my life ambitions - "24. Buy a football club." I think I will start some healthy competition with Bassini for the ownership of Portsmouth FC. I can't lie, finances are a little tight. I have paid for a wedding and honeymoon this year, and have had to account for a slight pay-cut in monthly incomings due to my wife being forced to look for a new job. Add to that, the prospect of a baby entering our household in January means we are putting more into savings each month. But, nevertheless, I am very confident my financial situation is far more stable than that of my nearest rival, Laurence Bassini (nee Bazini). As for the fit-and-proper-person test, unlike Bassini, I have: - never claimed ownership of a football club when in fact I have been removed due to confusing the situation in a take-over bid - never "injured" myself, and therefore been unable to attend a crucial press conference, twice - in fact, never missed a press conference - never changed my name to hide past discrepancies - medical proof that my cognitive mind is in working order, and my level of consciousness is, at best, average - an understanding that if I have £10, and want to spend £11, I can't. I will be submitting my business plan to the administrators shortly.
From http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19355580 Former Watford owner Laurence Bassini has also registered his interest in Portsmouth. However, the advanced nature of the current talks with Chainrai and the PST, as well as the urgency with which a deal needs to be completed, mean Bassini is not a serious option at this stage.
I may be being a bit cynical, but I wonder if Bassini was "encouraged" to make noises to have an effect on Chainrai who has today submitted a new offer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19355580
Was thinking the same Mark. I seriously cant believe any club would touch him with a bargepole without significant evidence of funds, well I guess if he sells the red lion he'll raise more than he bought watford for. This really is a strange chapter in our history. I quite like portsmouth and would like to see the supporters trust experiment if only to prove my theory that it could never work.
To own Pompey you have to be a criminal or just totally incompetent, so I think it may well work out okay.
