Should I leave the NUFC TV videos up, or take them down?

I've just received a message from this channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/NUFCOfficial1892

The message was -

Please could you take down the videos you have copied from nufcTV and refrain from doing this in the future? I would rather not go through the process of filing a complaint with YouTube (who will remove the videos for breach of copyright) and hope that you will remove them yourself instead. If you would like to have a further chat about this, and why it is so important to me, then please e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks

I looked at the channel, only 800+ subs. It does have a lot of Newcastle videos. It claims to be the official youtube side for Newcastle United. But I think to myself, anyone could do this and claim to it. But It does have a lot of NUFC links, and ads for Newcastle on it.

And the person who runs the channel claims to be http://twitter.com/robscanlon_nufc Rob Scanlon, who is an official video reporter for Newcastle united.

He says he'd rather not file a copyright complaint, but he will if he has to.

It's kind of ******ed that we have to pay to see things like this. I think I might just upload the videos on another website.

 

Best to play safe, it could cost you some cash.

 

Upload them on DailyMotion, no one ever checks copyright stuff on there.

It probably is him, I've chatted to him a few times on twitter like so I think he'd be aware of all the videos and people talking about them.

Aye, he could have been a knob about it but asked you first to do it. As people have said, whack them on dailymotion, out is allowed on that.

 

Very noble of him to ask you to remove them first. I say you should respect this and take them down. E-mail him apologising, perhaps ask him what he thought of the videos and even try and blag a day on the job with him to see how he goes about his work....worth a shot!

Say you're really interested in video editing and any advice/hands on help he could give you would be appreciated...Think he does most of it himself (filming etc. as well) so you never know, he might appreciate it!

Nah he has been pretty nice about it and he is right at the end of the day under law. I say you go down the blagging route and kiss his ass. Then ask him if he can arrange for all the lads to sign your shirt. If so buy a shirt and then auction online. Give the money towards a charity. The Fat Tash Drinking Foundation is in need from what I hear.

 

I've taken the videos down.

I've come to learn that NUFCTV is run by only one bloke who has to work countless hours, and it's only source of income to feed his family.

If I had known this before, I'd never have uploaded them.

If It's a big company that will only miss a couple of quid, I don't give a ****, but I'm all up for supporting the working man, which Is why I never download the work of a small band or artist, that is trying to make their way In the world.

I apologised to him and explained that I thought It was simply the club/Ashley that would lose a bit, not himself.

Makes me feel bad about the Newcastle players paintablling video, that got 50k+ views :S

 

Is he working on commission like? If not I wouldn't worry too much, he'll be getting a set wage etc. AND he told me the other day he's signed up to an 8 year contract so he's in a better position than a lot of us!
