He seems to be a little more confident now than he was at initial interviews, but I guess that was mainly because he knew so little about us. I'd forgotten it was only a two year deal, I thought it was three for some reason. If you believe what he says he seems to have the attitude of 'been there, done that' and is not a true 'career manager', unlike his predecessor who was ruthlessly ambitious.

Still think if a massive club came in for him next year he'd be off but that's the way it goes.

Yes, I like him. No blarney. No bull. What a change.

Yeah KJ the 2 year deal is something to think about but I believe the genius that is Jenkins will keep a weather eye on that!

I think the 2 yr deal was of benefit to both parties, ML if he does well will probably honour his contract and may move on with his head held high, if he does badly then we only need to get rid of 1 yr of his deal, we won't sack this season no matter what happens IMO.

It's possible if his family are happy here and he enjoys the area and job he may wish to develop the whole club and build along term plan.

In his interviews he has stated that his motivation is not to focus on getting the big job, as kj said ,he has managed pressure as a player and won everything at top clubs,he probably finds personal development more important than ruthless ambition. Time will tell us everything, I will love him to bits while he is here as that's what football is all about ..from tears to glory and hero to zero ;)

Im not sure who but the 2 year deal in place.. BUT .... I hate to say it...... The 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Danish job may well be something he is hoping to achieve.. I truly hope this is not the case ….

In March 2008, Olsen (Morten Olsen) Danish Coach stated that he would like to see Michael Laudrup succeed him as coach of the Danish national team. Olsen did not qualify Denmark for the 2008 European Championship, and in August 2008 Olsen stated that he planned to let his contract expire in 2010, in order to return to coaching on club level.[48] On 10 October 2009 he coached his 100th match as national team coach, as Denmark won 1-0 against Sweden and qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.[49] In January 2010, Olsen extended his contract until and including the 2012 European Championship.

So getting his feet wet in the biggest league ... may show his credentials to go on and manage his country...

My boy was flicking through the sports chanels last night and we saw Blarney Boys post match interview. God the bull that was coming out of that mans mouth. But he wasn't looking so confident answering certain questions about the future. Think he's suddenly realised what's expected !

I think he'll like us a lot more after he's received his welcome on saturday.
I just hope he's been made aware that a shout of 'YOU JACK BASTARD!!' is a compliment of the highest order :D

I think Curt will have a laugh at his reaction when the ML is saluted as a true Jack ... no doubt he'll set him straight.

One thing that struck me was he was focused on the moment rather than keeping one eye on the next stage in his managerial career (unlike the previous manager),I wonder when the penny will drop on what a brilliant piece of business the board achieved by bringing him to the club. Enjoy it while we can I say

Maybe ML just doesn't like long contracts. He turned down Liverpool for Juve cos 'pool wanted him to sign fo 4 yrs not 3.

Funny how it's only now people are realising just how many platitudes and empty phrases tumble out of Brendan's mouth. Six months ago he was the greatest man alive for most.

Personally I haven't trusted a single Swans manager since Martinez was appointed (I was no fan of him as a person when he was here as a player, for reasons I won't go into). It's a lot easier that way when they inevitably depart treacherously. Plus I get to say "I told you so" a lot to people, which is always a bonus.
