Guttet doesn't even come close to describing seeing my #1 target this transfer window joining West Ham. Will be worth every penny for Allardyce as there's hardly a better crosser in the country imo.

West Ham have agreed a deal worth a potential £10.75m for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Matt Jarvis.

The fee was settled between the clubs late on Wednesday night and the 26-year-old England international will travel to London on Thursday to discuss personal terms ahead of a medical.

Wolves had turned down three previous bids from the Hammers, but finally accepted an offer of £7.5m up front.

Further add-ons will take the package past £10m, a West Ham club record.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has been tracking Jarvis, 26, all summer and is now hopeful of completing a deal before Saturday's trip to Swansea City.

Jarvis, who has made one international appearance for England, played for Wolves in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Barnsley, after which manager Stale Solbakken gave his thoughts on the player's future.

"It's on the top political level now because every player has a valuation and if that valuation is matched I'm in the discussion," said the Norwegian, who is attempting to guide Wolves back to the Premier League following their relegation last season.

"It's not my money so someone will make a final decision. I don't know if the two clubs are still talking. I've had my say and the final call will be taken.

We do it together and we'll do the best for Wolverhampton."

Personally think this is a lot of money for an average player. Didn't always get in Wolves starting XI. £11m is a big gamble for the hammers.

Maybe it's the romantic in me as I think he's so similar to my all time favourite R Andy Sinton it's uncanny. Personally I really rate him, mostly cause he 'makes thing happen'. Superb crosser with both feet, just like Sinton. A dream would be to sign both Jarvis and Newcastle's Cisse, would be like the good old days with Sinton and Ferdinand, goals galore.

We have a better winger/player in Hoillet who has cost us a lot less cash. How he is worth 11mil and fletcher 12mil is beyond me. Am with you flyer, i would be very annoyed if we paid that for him.

It's just the way of the beast lads. This is what this sort of quality and Premier League pedigree costs these days. I'm just as annoyed as you guys about it and it makes my stomach turn to be honest. Another example would be one of the other players I'd like us to sign, Boltons Mark Davies. He got relegated too like Fletcher and Jarvis, this summer Bolton have rejected a bid of £6mill for him. Crazy figures. Only way to sign similar or better quality players for lesser fees is going abroad. Finally the club have set the wheels in motion with the recruitment of a large scouting department. Hopefully in the future we'll be able to unearth talent around the world and in England.

Definitely. I've only said that they are similar. Obviously as Sinton is my fav R no one comes close :)

If they get near £11 mill for Jarvis and £14 mill for Fletcher i'd be laughing all the way to the bank if I were the chairman.

So West Ham still owe Sheffield United £10 million for the Carlos Tevez affair but they've got £11 million to spend on one player. Wow!

What annoys me the most is that West Ham have signed more players than us this year and spent a lot more money, yet no one is slagging them off about panic buying, over spending, success or bust?! Southampton spending £20 million on 2 players!! In the words of Kevin Keegan, "I would love it, just love it, if we finished in the top 10 this season".................

This is the point. Most of the Prem clubs are paying BIG money for players, yet we're the ones that are seen as flashy and extravagant

Because we have an owner who likes to talk himself and the club up and reveal our lofty ambitions to all and sundry. He can't help it. Prefer if we just went about our business quietly and slip under the radar.
