To be fair it was 7 minutes Hardly time to get a sweat on, hell even I at 60 can run that long without breaking a sweat.
I must have listened to a different game, unless our game plan meant not scoring goals again? We have exactly the same problems as we've had for the last 3 years, we're not scoring goals or creating proper chances, until we get/play a creative midfielder in the middle instead of 2 defensive players nothing's going to change.
Prehistoric Bob's been whinging about Bruce. After two matches there's no need for it. Most of this rant is probably aimed at him and the whingers. As for being unlucky upfront- wastefulness happens- put it down to an off day. It may just click against Charlton. At least we created the chances- we could have been defending for the whole match and not created any. On another day we might score 2/3/4 of those chances. All our strikers have been culprits of wastefulness over the years- so there;s no need to single one out. Come the end of the season, Blackburn will be up there & we'll be around the playoffs. Either in or out of them, i dunno.
I don't see how people can call him the in form striker, ok he scored and IMO deserved a chance from the off alongside McLean, but he was only on about 10/15 minutes and despite scoring a tap in, having a fairly tame shot saved and missing an open goal on the rebound he didn't do a lot else to suggest he's in form as such.
It sounds like we did OK to be honest. Hard to know what to think when your sources are Blunderside and the BBC website text service. It's a shame Bruce wasn't brave enough to play Simpson, I don't think many would have complained. The big guy up front might have had a good game will be interesting to hear whether the system worked or not from people actually at the game.
Could have been two goals in a few minutes though, not so long since we had Stuey Elliot who was the invisible man most of the games but won us the matches regardless of the system we were playing in.
We were putting the pressure on before they scored out of nowhere, my post is saying that if you're on top and creating chances why would you risk that changing by making a sub? You've got to back your strikers or else why start them? If we were at home you could understand it as you chase the win so altering players to put an extra man in attack at 0-0 makes sense, but when you're away at a fancied team keeping them at arm's length is as important as attacking. The tactics were working and it wouldn't have made sense to change anything. Obviously they scored and we lost, but i still agree with what Bruce did at the time.
I was joking with the Bruce out, I did say that. But in all honesty I said for the last 2 years and since his appointment I don't think much to his management skills. Clean slate and I'll give him the chance he deserves to prove himself to me without jumping on his back, but reputations and big names alone don't impress me, what he does now as manager of hull city is all that matters to me and I'm impressed with his recruitment and impressed with today's game plan which sadly didn't come off due to a flukey Blackburn goal and wastefulness from our strikers which he has no control over. The tactics worked it just wasn't our night which is why I'm pissed off at the result, they were there for the taking.
It won't, and if it does it will be the exception rather than the rule. We've had the same problem as a team since we got relegated - not enough goals. Tonight isn't an off night, it's another of those games where we've had chances (apart from one or two no real clear cut should have scored type chances) but haven't scored.
Can't help thinking we got the rub of the green at the weekend and just didn't get it tonight. Was good listening to the game on 5 Live though for a change. Savage and Brownie were actually entertaining, funny, and gave good insights into the game. All the team did I thought. Nice mix of banter and commentating. They seemed unanimous in that we were the better side and were unlucky but looked a good side. I expected to lose 1-0, just pissed off it sounds like we could have beaten them or at least got a point, still, thats football.
We probably will! We're not a bad side by any means, but we won't be getting promotion until we address the problems we've had for years now going forward.
I didnt find it that entertaining tbh...too many misplaced passes..brought a decent amount of fans though ut we deffo didnt deserve to lose. Blackburn fans on way home home had some interesting songs about the venkys
My point still stands even if Bob's joking. Some City fans need to man up or **** off, afterall, it's football- you win some, you lose some. This sums up how cretinous our "fans" can be "Assem Allam fled egypt because of war, if someone ran away to the UK in war we would call them cowards, he cant even stand up for his own country." From a kid/ man on the city facebook site. It's embarrassing to see people get on the backs of everyone at the club over one defeat.
I hope you're right about the goals for Mclean and Proschwitz. People aren't giving them much hope. Fryatt's injury is a masive blow. All i can say about Simpson not getting picked is, obviously he's not doing it in training. What was their goal like?
