MON: I just think it was a touch dsingenuous to question press fee reporting when you know fine nicely Bent cost you more than £8m. Just saying like fella. AJ would be an amzing signing for yous. He's a quality player, and having local lads is never a bad thing. Durham may be Wearside, but it isn't Sunderland. Its a different city mate, which has mixed Newcastle / Sunderland support. In fact, Wearside lad Adam Johnson happens to follow Newcastle United : ) CEST: Again, I think Johnson is a brilliant player. He's also an impact signing (which I don't think Fletcher quite is); a signing that will galvanise both the support and the players around him. Its rare that a club outside of the big six get a chance at a player of that calibre, so you should snap him up if its at all possible. If it didn't mean dislodging Ba, I would be more than happy for Newcastle to go for him. Yeah, European nights are great. We're kinda blase about the Europa, cos the Champions League REALLY does spoil ya; but you've gotta enjoy it cos you don't know when it'll come round again. Both North East clubs (potentially) in the top10? Can any north east football fan really no be happy at that? Imagine the derbies if the 2 sides were both actually playing for significant league positions? COULD have a huge knock affect to each other. EDIT: JeNSQ.....don't you think he'll change the dynamic of that type of match? I certainly do. EDIT2: RAW...howez man, a bit of craic on each other's signings makes for a bit livelier discussion no? Constructive craic is what a multi club forum should be all about.
Cestria The black thick and f*ck white? It's been a while since I studied French, I think I can decipher the code though!
Over priced, over rated. I still stand by my first thoughts on Fletcher when he was first touted for us. I have never seen him score a goal that made me go "Wow there's a great striker!" What I have seen, is him score goals off absolutely dreadful defending. Well Steven once you're in the red and white, it's up to you to prove me wrong. And no one will be happier than myself to eat a huge slice of humble pie. FFS! I hope I have to eat the whole pie.
Durham maybe Wearside? Who is his clown, Sunderland and South Shields used to be part of County Durham up to the boundary changes. East Durham has alwas been mainly Sunderland fans indeed a lot of sunderland support comes from there. Constructive craic? Debate is what it's about. However Smug mags need not apply.
Who says we've agreed 14m for Fletcher.. Or do you work behind the scenes at SAFC? As mm says.. Players signed from relegated teams never make it after transferring do they?
What part of "Durham isn't Sunderland. Its a different city" do you disagree with? Wearside AFC isn't a team, Sunderland AFC is. Durham City though, isn't Sunderland. Different place. Not the same place. Not sure where you're from, but if its Durham City you'll know as well as me its a City with divided loyalties. Not that I need apply to you whatsoever, but what part of my post that you quoted isn't constructive? I've been highly constructive about Fletcher: good player, a tad over priced (much the same as many SAFC fans are saying). And that Johnson would be a BRILLIANT signing for you. Not sure how much more constructive you want?
The fact that you're all having to do so much defending of the player and even his transfer fee says it all for me really.
The part I disagree with is that part where you say Durham maybe wearside. Thought I'd made that clear???????? I don't need u to be constructive, havn't asked you to be??????
I'll lend you a hand concrete, "Durham may be..." has a different context to "Durham maybe?". My sentence read "Durham is in Wearside but not Sunderland". You misunderstood that i was saying Durham is perhaps in Wearside. Your bad.
It's just a fact that British players are over priced, but they are over priced for a reason...the reason being you generally know what you're getting from them. Our policy is different at the moment, putting months in to scouting to ensure a cheaper alternative than having to buy British. We pay less but the risk is slightly higher as you don't know if the player will adapt to the pace of our league etc. You guys have payed a premium for a proven 10-15 goal a season British striker. If you can afford the reported 14 million (nobody actually knows the true figure at the moment) then I don't see the issue. All that should matter is you can afford him and he'll improve your team, solid signing for you I reckon.
Well said mate. Fact is he is going to improve the squad. I trust MON and believe he will get it right. He is better than we have and if he gives us 15 goals this season I will be happy with that. He is one of them signings that wont get the blood pumping but I tell ya what he gives 110% and I am sure he will do a good job for SAFC.
