Just bought my ticket for Saturday and although it's only Wigan I couldn't be more happy if I tried. I'm absolutely stoked for it. I mean, I know we've played at Man. City but for me it really doesn't seem real until the Premier League hits St Mary's. I think it's been made even sweeter by the fact that I've had to sit and watch us play the Bury's and the MK Dons to get back to the Premier League. I can't pretend to have watched Saints play every week in League 1 and the Championship, although living over 3 hours away I think I have a valid excuse. I still did my fair share of journeys to the League 1 and Championship grounds, though. I think having been part of that journey from the depths of hell (League 1) back to where we belong makes this Saturday all the more sweet. I bear no grudges against the so-called fair-weather fans however I do think those who stopped turning up throughout the League 1/Championship games won't appreciate this weekend as much as I will. For me it really feels special because it feels like we're back where we belong, and after a long fight too. Can anybody tell me if there are any tributes to Markus planned??? I really feel we owe him such a debt and that we should show our gratitude. I'd love to get involved with anything that's happening! I'll be making the journey on my own from (not so) sunny Leicester on my own so if anyone fancys a swift pint before the game so I'm not a lonely ba****d then let me know!
It's my first season as a season ticket holder, (don't worry I'm no plastic been supporting us since before we went down for our 7 year exile and loyally through the 7 years) but I miss the first game because I'm at reading festival
A football thread?! No way! I'm thinking we'll go 4-4-2 potentially with Lambert and Sharp up top with Rodriguez left in reserve. Just a suspicion but I can't wait either!
Just got some of the last 2 seats together I was told. Excited! Although they are row F in Chapel... I can hear my girlfriend moaning that she can't see now!
Wigan have nothing to fear, i'm thinking you'll ship a ton of goals this season (although probably score a fair few as well).
I can't wait eiher. Wife is from Wigan ..... it's going to be a big night in our house come Saturday evening
Please don't say it is only Wigan. Thats what people say about us. It's only little old unimportant nobody Southampton playing above their station. Gets right up my nose and if we don't like it we shouldn't say it about other clubs. Wigan have a great history, a smashing and really likeable manager and several players I am looking forward to seeing. It is going to be a great game with the sides properly balanced and each with an equal chance of winning.
