Anyone else struggling to adapt?? Is it an inferiority complex?

I'm loving all the excitement and buzz we've had through the close season. The signings, the people we're linked with, the new ground etc etc but i've got to admit there's a small part of me that's struggling with it!! I think it's just the unchartered territory never known before as an R.

Having supported Rangers for over 30 years and never known anything like this period the concept of splashing several million on not just one player but a few is almost scary. Can we do it, should we be doing it, how do we afford it? Once the new players arrived, can we keep them happy? Will they be happy sat on the bench at little QPR? Squad rotation? Christ! In the past you knew the starting 11 and if someone got injured you'd hope someone could fill the gap pending a return.

Whats going to happen? Will the bubble burst and we crash financially, struggling to off load overpaid, ageing stars, or is this just Rangers growing into an established premiership powerhouse?! I hope its the latter and i'm enjoying the ride. Anyone else struggling with getting their heads round the whole new era?

Although I'm different from you, you're not alone. I can see that there are many who can't adapt and I can't blame them with all the madness that has been club QPR for god knows how many years.

Some people refuse to be positive. I mean, some people feel no positivity about QPR even after the fact that we won the CCC and then remained in the EPL for another year. It's like they'll never stop believing we could suddenly find ourselves in League 1. I think they'll still feel the same way if we were in Europe.

Don't take it for a lack of positivity. I never gave up hope we'd stay up and kept saying so when all the doom merchants had us gone. I love what were doing but it all feels so surreal that were not scratching around lower leagues searching for hidden talent and are now actually spending money! Who'd have thought we would ever have (ex) international players etc on the bench and happy to be there.

Think you're on to something 74. This is uncharted territory for us and a whole different approach is needed from us as supporters. I've personally given up on worrying all the time as it takes away the joy in being a supporter, embrace it I say.

When ever have we sold inferior players and brought in superior ones? NEVER! We have always relied on selling our star performers to get by and trying to replace them with unproven lower league ones. Who can forget the Dick Thompson days?!

    Happy days, love it :)

I guess most on here have been watching QPR struggle for the last 15-16 years...they are used to a set way of expecting things from their club...a bit like Man Utd fans expect to win everytime and when they loose they are shell shocked.

As it stands we are in no-mans land.....a period of transisiton between a Championship side and a decent established Premiership team, punching well above our weight, financial clout and club stature....with that brings uncertainty in the fan base.

A lot of people are optimists by nature and some pesimists....both have one thing in common, usually a slight lack of realism...letting their emotional feelings dictate the actual current situation.

Give it another year or 2 and we are still in this league, with a new stadium then people will adapt......then we will start to expect success, but there will always be that emotional scar, that will never leave the diehards knowing where QPR came from and where they are going.

Just roll with it....it will be fun either way.

Definately agree with the sentiment and trying to come to terms with these silly prices that we seem to be paying because we are still a small club in the big boys league. I would like to add that the attitude of some posters to buying players also gives me the shakes as I think some people have already forgotten what we have been all about for years.

Having said that I agree with other comments on enjoying the ride and lets see where this takes us, because it is a whole lot of fun.

Me too. Never gave up hope. I somehow just could not believe QPR would be relegated. I felt it in my bones that QPR were meant to stay up and be in the Premier League for at least another season!

I am not struggling at all as TF has already built a massive business out of QPR and we have a team of backers ... its doubtful that everyone would walk away together ...

I am loving it and have no doubts regardless who plays for us or managers us ... Its London after all ... mind you the world may end that will **** it all up

I must agree that its hard to adjust to the 'free-spending' having spent most of my life following a club that struggled to buy a round of drinks.

Its also odd not being a 'selling club' these days.

Best decision Adel made was holding on for a bit longer, I reckon Amit had a quiet word and told him what the future held.

Will we be the biggest spending British club this transfer window?

The struggle to adapt as you put it, will get a lot easier when the performances and results match expectations. A few away wins, even a few draws, will get you in the groove and give you the feeling that hey I'm starting to believe we belong here. On the other hand if we continue down the road we started on last week and keep up the away form we've grown accustomed to then the struggle to adapt will become the struggle to cling to the toilet bowl as we get flushed back to where we came from...But enough of this optimism for now.....

We got a way to go to catch the scum! £Sixty something million I heard the other day - £32 on Hazard alone.

Yeah the fact that Adel signed for another 4 years speaks massive volumes about where QPR are going......not long ago he felt he should be playing for Barcelona!
