A loan spell would certainly do him good but i'd rather he learnt from the likes of MON, Sess, Saha, Fletcher etc. Bruce always said that he was bought for the future and i reckon MON agrees with this and will in time get the best out of him. I reckon we have a gem on our hands and we just need to nurture him for a while.

Im all for giving chances mate, and I can say I've never given the lad any stick but last season he showed very little if thats down to injury and fitness issues then that for the club to work on.

Medical & terms a formality on this one, he's MON's number 1 target, he wants to be here, if the fee is indeed agreed, he'll be done today/tomorrow, and hopefully get a day or 2 training with the lads ready for Saturday v Reading.

As Terry points out, 500k per place, if he scores 15 or so, and we finish 6 places higher (I have us down for 14th without a goalscorer, maybe 8th with...), he's repayed £3million in season 1.

I'm still baffled that anyone can't see the value of this lad for us, he's a goalscorer, and a tidy footballer to boot, he scores in big games (Old Trafford, WHL, Emirates last season off top of my head), and he gets himself into great positions.

Fee aside, as a football decision, this is a smashing move by us.

Not only the money from the FA, if we don't get someone in and we do slide down the table or even have a mediocre safe season, the crowds will dip. We bring him in and he starts scoring and the crowds will increase for sure.

This is a massive season for us, we have the sponsorship deal clubs of our size rarely dream of, a great kit deal with Adidas & a very tight middle section of the league where any one of 6 team can leap into the top 7-8.

A goalscorer, plus potentially AJ, and we are right in the mix, and that is our next level.

I thought we paid too much for Crouchie guys but.. I tipped him to score 15 last season, he got 14 without checking so..
As said above 10 plus goals last season for us well worth it. HOPE Fletcher does well for you lads <ok>

Think me and you been on this from the start Mons. I rate the lad very highly, based on seeing him v us and live on tv.

He is the perfect age, ability, experience etc and imo we've got a proper footballer, whatever the fee.

This is his chance to shine for a bigger club that is heading in the right direction.

It's up to him now and I'm having a Tenner on first goal Saturday. Bet he is lower odds than 4/1.

On the flipside, Wolves have been bickering over a few quid and it could end up costing them £50m+ if they can't get replacements in before the window shuts.

Cheers fella, THud be a smashing signing for you lads <ok>

Think it was around Christmas we started discussing him Cest, way, way before we were linked.

He's perfect for us right now, he will score goals from day 1.

He was my target back before Bruce got the push. Had he signed him last summer, Bruce may well have kept his job.

I'm also going to have a daft Tenner on him finishing top English EPL striker, as the price will fall if we sign Johnson as well.

You got Ba from a relegated team, I guess that means he's rubbish as well?

It's fair to say players from relegated clubs have never gone on to do well mind.

Lampard, **** since he left West Ham.

    Ba, awful last season.

Just to start the ball rolling like.

Cestria - if you're having a cheeky tenner then try a top striker such as Borini...hahahaha I thought I could pull it off, I can't. Stick with Fletcher.

This 14m isnt even confirmed yet so be stupid to judge it as overspending til we know ins and outs of deal. If its 14m with all the add ons they might only be paying around 10 to begin with. He looks to be a good goalscorer and was who you wanted so its up to your chairman if hes happy to pay it. Was there any rumours on how much you would have to spend over the window?

Are you suggesting the Scousers spend way over the top on average players?? That's a novel theory...

I'd be amazed if it's more than £10million up top.

It was reported we paid £8million for Catts, we paid £6million.

As much as £10 million was reported for Turner, was under £4million.

£16million was sharked for Bent, we paid closer to £8million.

The press add a few quid, as it makes a better story.
