You just need to keep going H and hopefully the results will follow, I seem to have plateau'd a bit weight wise but I am not stopping. My issue is going to Paris for a long weekend, no real phys I did an hour this morning on the bike with half an hour on Sunday afternoon and Monday evening, now on nights for the next two nights so I will do more tomorrow and Friday prior to flying. The only real exercise I do over there is walking but not really power walking but may need to try and do some so I don't lose momentum. Today I bought some diet protein whey, which is to be used post exercise and between meals or in fact as a meal replacement, don't like using shakes as a meal replacement but we shall see how we go as a boost pre and post exercise. Onwards and weight downwards me thinks Keep up the great work H, my mate who has the spinning dvd is away this week so I shall ask him next week for a copy
i will, thanks Al...once i start getting earlier nights (my next mission) things will seem a lot easier i'm sure! I'm enjoying the bike thing though..so i probably need the DVD, coz if i'm enjoying it i must be doing it wrong lol. Thanks so much for that! Walking is great in any form..it doesn't have to be power walking, though dawdling isn't fab lol. Still, i'm sure walking through airports is enough to burn a few calories! As for the diet, i'm still enjoying mine, even though i haven't lost any weight since February..which is really rather depressing. Plateau is one thing, but a stand still is a pain in the bum...i really need to get it moving again, i think exercise will be the key..i hope so anyway! It's been a while since i exercised properly...
Just need to kick your body into getting used to doing exercise again, once it gets used to it you'll be fine....it is maintaining it is the issue as stop, start is no good it has to be continuous, with a well earned break now and again. Build up what you do, don't do too much to soon otherwise your body will wonder what your up to...gently first then build up time and effort!
already building..i've gone from 20 mins to 25...not bad, considering i haven't been on a bike for 30 odd years lol. And with the treadmill, i'm doing weights at the same time..which is a great way to burn fat ...i'm enjoying it again at the moment...hope it lasts! lol
Due to my tendonitis I have to refrain from doing any weights which is very frustrating I had ultrasound treatment yesterday, which worked to begin with but when I woke up this morning it was same old, same old The physio said it could be cortisone injection next
ouchies ...even light weights? Very very light weights? Sorry it's not getting better..that sucks big time ...
Went out for my first run since I ran a half marathon in April and my goodness me that hurt. Was only 3 miles to ease me in but yeah...my body hated it. The worst kind of motivation you have is when you find out you're not at all fit enough to do what you did a few months ago. Kick up the backside? I think so!
that's a familiar feeling hampshire! Having done the moonwalk last year...walking 26.2 miles, i stopped walking pretty much straight away...and here i am..starting all over again! So frustrating. But, i started last week and feel better already . And..i'm working towards a half marathon too...i'm crap at running, but a friend of mine and i said we'd do the marathon in 2014...we might have to move that target date though!
Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.................. Just because you used to be able to walk great distances and not really feel it doesn't mean it is still inside you, you have lapsed into no exercise.....build it up and you will feel the benefit slowly but surely your body will even like it perhaps Just enjoy it, don't overdo it otherwise you will get injured.....then it will take even longer to get fit again
H, I have given my mate a dvd to burn you a copy of the spinning dvd once I have it I will pm you so you can send me your address
30 minute walks for me at the moment. To think 4 years ago it was 1hr a day in the gym sometimes a second 45 min session in the day. Cartilage wear in the knees knocks the running on the head and tennis elbow affecting the weight training, still do it time to time but its for the love of it rather than any concerted plan at the moment. Sons doing the great north run in a couple of months. We had him up to national level swimmer 5 years ago and hes been pretty sedentary since but decided 4 weeks ago he should start training. First training run he did was 16.2 miles and up a munro in the middle of it!!! Fair to say base fitness stays at that age (20) and I was the same running the watford marafun when I was about 20 after no training and still hitting it in 2 hours, at this age tried to run earlier in the year in Tulsa 5 miles along the river, managed 1 then it was run walk the rest only made it letting my running companions go ahead knowing the target was a bar with cold beer then taxi back to start point. I really want to lose 15Kg before this time next year, HIT I think its going to have to be, just wish every time I start something it didn't start a problem somewhere in the body....
I know what you mean, since starting my latest fitness bash I have been diagnosed with tennis elbow which has curtailed any weight training! The physio says to try some light work as long as my arm is straight, how I do that god knows. I will continue on my exercise bike, the thing is it is one of those with the arm exercise which I think irritates my elbow! After seeing the physio today he is passing me back to the Doc to discuss cortisone injections!!! What ever next
