Folks found this in the Local rag, read into it what you will....are we now in a two horse race with the spuds http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...-for-hearts-in-europa-league-100252-31670441/
They will be interested if he goes to £35m? Lol If he wants to go to Spurs to sit on the bench as Bale and Lennon play then he doesnât deserve to progress in his career. We are the only club in for him (performances dependent of course) that can guarantee him a first team berth. If he wants to play football there is only one way for him to go. I guess we will see whether young Adam is interested in actually playing football, or merely watching it in the next few days?
He's a far better option for Spurs than Aaron Lennon, considering Lennon has got absolutely zero end product. I'd assume this is an important area for Spurs to address, so everything isn't going down the left flank for them. Having said that, it looks as if you lot are in pole position to land the guy and even if Spurs do manage to pip you to him, I'm confident that Andre Villas Boas will find a way to make Johnson look like one of the worst players in the EPL.
Terry I think you make a funny yet valid point, because my concerns are.. that if Johnson ignores the Sunderland option and goes to Spurs, he will, as you quite correctly point out, either fail to get past Lennon and Bale and end up on the bench or indeed be co erced into AVB's style of play which tends to stifle players natural talent. Ultimatley we could be looking at a player who is finished after this move..ie another David Bentley...(I mean wheres that lad now ????)
David Bentley - forgot about that guy! haha turns out he's still on Spurs' books, he's most likely cleaning out the cockeral coop along with other talentless tasks. I agree on Johnson, it's a shame that a 2nd English club have fallen for AVB's ridiculous trap, we don't need inside info as it's plain to see that he causes destruction (Couldn't convince Modric to stay, losing their best defender) wherever he goes. He managed to make a team that eventually won the Champions League, look like they were in a relegation scrap. Martin O'Neill can get Johnson back to his best I'd say, so I'll agree, we're probably about to find out how loudly money talks.
