Panic buys, etc ............ you name it but I for one give credit to TF for making the funds available. Remember when we had Flav & Ecc, they really didn't give a toss what was best for the club and made it seem like pulling teeth, to get new players, let alone decent ones. Well TF has really put his money where his mouth is and I think it is a credit to him. Hopefully tonight we can put 5 on Norwich and balance the books. Come on you RRRRRRRr's
They are a bad idea when they arent that good, Puncheon for example. They are a good idea when the instantly become the best player in that position.
Carvalho would be a fantastic signing. He is quality. Along with Dawson we could be watching one of the best centre back partnerships in the league.
He only played 13 games last season, compared to 48 games the previous season. It's all well and good playing for Real Madrid, but apart from Barca the rest of La Liga are ****e. This is a fine example of "too many cooks spoil the broth". Now 11 defenders we have. Ferdinand and Hill to be replaced by Carvalho and Bosingwa for Sat? Good times.
Wasn't Puncheon's fault that Warnock got him in and then never used him! To be honest I've popped out of the office for a mochacino and we've 'reportedly' signed a whoile new team.....any of these actually confirmed? Mbia? The 17 year old French lad? Dawson? Carvalho?
He would be a loan player!!! Chill out!! If he is any good (Real Madrid) then its a win situation, and if he is garbage then we send him packing. 2 big positives 1) pure bred centre back, no arguing with that 2) not signed up to a big wage long contract. Well happy if they pull it off.
Guess thats me over to the Flyers then...always thought of him as a bad player in a good team....seen him get ripped apart far to many times TBH Prefer Dawson by a mile !
Did you not see Athletic Bilbao destroy Man U? And then Atletico Madrid destroy Bilbao in the Europa Cup final? Real and Barca are well ahead but that does not mean the rest are rubbish. "now 11 defenders we have" welcome Yoda.
looks like i'm the minority then...Oh well..no change there Didnt he get sold because he couldnt keep up with the pace of the prem...?...its only got quicker... Wil suport him of course but wouldnt be my choice....but...what do i know ?!.(over to you)
I know he’s a very good player but I am not a fan of sigining players are 30+ on loan who have a good track record but are taking a big step down to be here. Seems like a stop gap and a good way for his family to get back to London and I am a bit concerned that he may not be all that motivated. With the number of signings we have made squad morale may be an issue this year and if we hit a poor run of form it may be difficult to get out of if some players just aren’t that committed. I hope I’m wrong but only time will tell Carvalho is an improvement on what we have on paper and a million miles better than players we have signed in the past but we are shopping for higher quality now and I would I think permanent signings who will be around for a while like Dawson are far more effective.
Unlikely that the loan contract would allow us to send him back just because he wasn't performing. He will be on very big wages whilehe is here
Carvalho and Dawson are both superb players and what we need, we all know the weaknesses at the back ! Well done to TF and the board again, for putting their hands in their pockets........... Onwards and upwards chaps )
Carvalho was the best defender I've seen at Chelsea along with G*llas, hugely popular here and wish him the best of luck
