To be fair they did lump it up but so would United if we were facing a team like ours. Why bother with the fancy stuff when your tallest player is about a foot taller than anyone on your opponents side. If they hadnt they would of lost, probably by or 3. Play to your strengths. I think when you have been in football as long as fergie you have no time for beating around the bush. Just say it how it is, doesnt matter really, if he praises clubs he gets grief, if he doesnt he gets grief. Hes a high profile figure at the very top of the football tree and everyones just waiting for their turn to chuck something at him ( not literally ). It wasnt all that long ago clubs had 'fans' who's only interest was to fight with other 'fans'. Alot of hard work has been put in to minimise this including a blanket ban from TV ( I think its applies to live or highlights but not news if its really bad, ie someone dies.....Burnley v Forest a few years back ) and minimal press coverage. Its so it doesnt look glamorous. There are clubs who have youth versions of these firms so the problem still exists but its no longer a major part of football.
Yep, I'll agree with a lot of that, we are somewhat (and unfortunately) represented on MOTD and I agree hansen and lawrenson can be v annoying, especially lawrenson! However, the papers seem to tend to favour the successful london clubs and yernited if you read the articles. That's just my opinion of course.
I watched the entire game from kick off to final whistle... I didn't think Everton 'lobbed the ball upto the big man' all the time. There is a HUGE difference between a long pass and a hit and hope.
Mark 'still bitter' Lawrenson is my personal favourite... Every week he puts Newcastle down for a draw or defeat and Liverpool down for an easy win on the BBC website. Didn't one of them even have Liverpool aer favourites for the title last year?? the mind boggles lol
I would disagree, I see where you are coming from but a certain Phil Mcnulty has built up an irrational hatred of our club and even tried to blame certain stadium disasters on our fans if my memory is correct.
As they were but they played to their strengths and Fellaini with the ball off the ground is ****ing class so it makes sense to feed him high balls in a game, especially against midget midfielders in scholes and clev plus carrick at cb. Everton were absolutely quality last night and I dont think any United fans have any complaints. I dont think Fellaini lost a ball played to him in the air.
To gp back to the Everton v Man utd game though, I actually think Everton were the best team I saw all weekend, they looked like a really decent side. I'm confused as to why Fergie refuses to give them any credit for the win. Lets be honest, Everton should have scored 3 or 4, Man utd got off lightly.
My personal favourite quotes are the ones about other 'Big' clubs. Giant clubs come and go, even the great manchester united have been relegated in the past. But put this idea to the modern fans and they dismiss it outright. "we are man utd, we will always be great" Leeds?? Forest?? lol I think some football fans today are too quick to ignore the not too distant past. Its like I have said many many times before to Man Utd fans.... FOOTBALL EXISTED BEFORE 1993.
I dont. I find the media hugely condescending of Southern clubs in general. Look no further than the media bias against Arsenal and Chelsea for this. I just think the media hate anyone that dares to challenge United. We saw it with Newcastle in the mid 90s when Keegan was castigated, we saw it with Arsenal when Wenger was castigated, we saw it when Chelsea were mocked, we even saw it when Rafa was castigated and now were seeing it with City and Mancini
The most biased person on TV is Phil Thompson. So biased they dont let him do Liverpool games anymore Paddy Crerand comes close aswell but hes only on MUTV. The media at the minute are right up Citys backside and when Chelsea first hit the jackpot they were lodged firmly in theirs. They have no preference and can one day be right behind a club then the next they are stringing them up. Its the ****ing press, just dont pay attention to it and then it means nothing.
I have a lot of respect for G.Neville, I think he is a great pundit with an awesome knowledge of the modern game.
I have to agree with you there, mate. De Gea continually kept Utd in it. Without him, they'd have been hammered. Great performance from the young keeper - possibly the best MU player, with Kagawa, who looked very promising, the next best player for them.
Chelsea and Mourinho were the best thing since sliced bread to the press. They loved it. City now, Sky, Uniteds supposed biggest supporters have replayed that goal about 50000 times now and will continue to do so for the next 8 months or so. I mean it doesnt seem very United biased to me. More like rubbing our noses in it.
"The question is why it goes unreported or dealt with when its United fans." Perhaps Oliver Holt didn't see this one from his hotel room in Dubai, like he reckons he heard a fan shout "Black b&stard" in the Oldham game.
I actually like that era of Man Utd player though (apart from Keane who was jus a moron) Nevilles, Beckham, Schole and Giggs are heroes to alot of people, even from rival teams.
