    Larsson and Elmander?

Not the most outstanding of signings but meh.. they'll do the job I guess.

Ifs and buts. What if we spend £30m on two strikers and they both get injured? What if we sign three and then none of them get injured and two of them start acting up because they can't get a game? What if the coach crashes and the whole first team squad is killed?

If he gets injured we play Best or Ameobi. If he gets ruled out in September for the season we can sign someone in January. This season we've lost Carroll and Ben Arfa for pretty much the whole season and we're top half. Three strikers is ridiculously excessive when we already have five on the books.

What about Nolan in that line-up?

    I'd rather play a midfield/attack of:

    -----------Tiote----------
    -----Barton----Nolan------
    Gervinho--------------HBA
    ----------Striker---------

Nolan won't be dropped as the club captain and our top-scorer this season, so he will play.

Well 3 might be a little over the top , but we really need two lethal strikers. After watching the game yesterday I don't want us to ever rely on Shola or Lovenkrands. There may have been effort and workrate , but that lethal finish wasn't there.

Id rather we played jonas than nolan. Nolan doesnt add alot to the game other than leadership and goals, which HBA can cover his goal scoring, and tiote or barton the leadership. Nolan's getting on a bit even if he is only 29/30 hes starting to get extremely tired towards the end of most games! Harsh after what he's done for us this season though...

  7. We shouldn't be dropping Nolan. Stick Ben Arfa as a left attacking mid and put Nolan in CAM.

That's a bit harsh don't you think? Our top scorer with 12 goals and has been brilliant for us this season. Where would we be without King Kev's goals?

  11. It would be a mistake to drop Nolan.

It's not about his goals it's about his TECHNICAL ABILITY(he hasn't got pace, passing is questionable, skill/dribbling non-existent, ability on the ball severly questionable). His goals, leadership and experience have been key to us this season though <ok>. I just think we could do with a more rounded box-to-box industrious/action CM(sort of like a Kieron Dyer at his best). You even said Nolan would be useless and ineffective in a flexible and technically able 4231. He would be great as a impact sub though <ok>. AG we've had this debate loads of times in the old 606!

I find it amazing that people want Nolan to be dropped when he's scored more goals than any other midfielder in the league!

Yep it is harsh, he has been brilliant at goal scoring, im not denying that. But if we want to improve id put a faster player in there. All four first team midfielders have been class all season so if we want new players, one of thems going to have to be dropped. I wouldnt drop Jonas the amount of free kicks he has won this season that has got us 3 points is amazing, performance at St Andrews were he won us the match.

  15. I wish people would shut up about his lack of pace. He lacks a bit of agility, but he gets into goal scoring positions and CAN keep up with the team. He's not the slowest player on the team, he can pass the ball well, he's creative, has vision, he can win us possession, he has a good amount of aggression. He plays well with the defense and attack. He has good ball control, and keep a hold of the ball because he has a good pair of feet on him and he has good strength on his shoulders.

He is a technical player, and an excellent one. His right place is behind a striker, but can play anywhere and has impact on the team.

And still you won't admit you're wrong. ;)

His ineffectiveness in that formation is besides the point as we won't be playing it.

I would rather drop a striker and play Nolan behind the lone striker , instead of dropping Nolan.

An attacking midfielder is any midfielder who is stationed in a more advanced midfield position to assist goalscoring.[3] The attacking midfielder is an influential position and requires the player to possess good technical abilities, an eye for a pass, shooting, running, and dribbling skills.
Attacking midfielders are generally required to have:
Excellent technical ability, including close control, passing, shooting and dribbling.
Creativity, to anticipate passing opportunities for their fellow forwards.
Off-the-ball intelligence, to anticipate passes from the midfield which create opportunities to score or to pass on to a forward.
An understanding of the winger role. Due to tactical changes, central attacking midfielders are sometimes played on the wing, to accommodate other strikers or forwards.
A secondary ability is finishing ability and composure.

Also an attacking midfielder is supposed to create chances aswell as score. Would the team score more goals with a more cretive player there than him just scoring the goals and not creating them? I would play him as a super sub, would be perfect for that position!
