He must be on the spectrum. Nobody can be that deluded. If Sir Alex was filmed on CCTV planting dynamite in the Kop End he'd probably say "all managers go over the top, it's not just United's"
That's odd. I've grown up surrounded by Manchester United fans - most with season tickets - and I've never heard that one. Some even actually say Man U if you ask them what team they support. Very strange. I'll google it.
Sounds like BS to me. Very tortuous logic to get an insult out of that. I still can't see it. I'll look on more web sites.
By the same reasoning they should get offended by us calling them Manchester United as well. Perhaps more research is required?
That seems a weak argument. I'm not keen on the whole 'I'm offended card", especially if it's affected!
Nah, no point. They know what they are. I think I saw the whole Man U debate. Was it on the banter thread? I honestly thought they were taking the piss and it was a manc wind up. And, to a certain extent, I still do!
Is that not the reason SAF pleaded with the United fans to stop abusing Wenger? Pretty sure it was and seems like it was dealt with.
I always thought proper United fans referred to themselves as "Yernited". Every plastic I know here in London refers to their team as "Man U". It makes me laugh when they call City "Citeh" with no idea of the connotations of what they are basically saying
Indeed. I often say that to my MU (more acceptable?) friends and they pretty much accuse me of the same thing. Round and round we go, and they still can't see that they are in the wrong. Some people never learn.
They are still clinging on to the fact City "only" beaten them by the horrid injustice that is Goal Difference. Even on Head to Head ruling City would have triumphed over them. They are not even the best team in their city anymore, brilliant. I don't care what anybody says about City I'd rather them win the title 10 times than United once. If United fade the FA with the help of Sky and the media are bound to shift the goalposts in their favour, they'll probably introduce some kind of FFP of their own
My United mates definitely aren't plastic. They hail either from Salford, or the surrounding areas. The one who lives furthest from OT, Dave, lives near Preston - i.e. certainly not from London or Norway. Most have had season tickets for about as long as they could afford it (10 yrs or so?). Even so, they've never mentioned any problem with the term.
I don't mind that but you should see the plastics in London that don't know a player or even watch a game and have no interest in ever going to OT or any interest in United at all until they win something. After the CL in Moscow there were people I know that hated football and others with little interest that were all of a sudden United fans the next day after winning in Moscow. Kind of annoys you when your an avid fan that watches the games every week with huge passion albeit on TV or by physically attending matches like most of the Chelsea fans I know do
Erm....... its happened before and not been reported. Just as United fans have been in the press for being ****s. Things happen every week and go unreported in the press. As I explained there is a very good reason for this. Imagine the headline.... (insert team ) fans sick chants. Imagine the report. Typical media stuff thats exaggerated to make it more of a story. You know the sort. Now imagine fans of a rival club pick up that paper and read the sensationalist story ( a few 100 become the entire fanbase in a few short lines with the rags ) and get wound up. Tensions are running high come the next game and it kicks off. Nobody has any idea if the people who did the chanting are even there but what does it matter, someones getting hurt and clubs are getting fined. Its just one big mess. Or it can be dealt with like the vast majority of incidents and be done by the club and the police if needed. Its not because one club is favoured or one club disliked. The media do not hate Liverpool and they certainly dont love United. Do you see Millwall plastered in the papers all the time, or Leeds? Burnley? All have some pretty nasty fans and do some frankly disgusting chanting yet its not reported very often if ever. Is this because the press love these clubs? I dont think so. As page mentioned, United fans sang a quite nasty song about Wenger. Fergie personally asked for them not too so why get the press involved? I would also suggest United fans are not the only ones, how many Liverpool fans sing sick songs about Fergie or Best or other United players past and present. How many Arsenal fans sing songs that offend spurs fans and players? This entire thread was another tin foil hat wearing nutjobs way of saying United control the world.
If half of the supposed 'Manchester United season ticket holders' were actually telling the truth they be getting 100,000 a game lol - All Man utd fans are glory hunters and thats pretty much fact. lol I dont believe there is a media bias towards them though, I think the media bias has always been towards Liverpool. The BBC are terrible for this! Lawrenson and Hanson are the worst pundits ever to appear on a TV screen.
The name manu was used by the club and there is even old merchandise with it on. The fact is a lot of fans dont like it because it is primarily used by the media, plastic fans and rivals. So in an attempt to stop us using it they go on with the garbage about it being offensive because it was one word in a horrible song.
And DL.... you talk some ****e. Seriously man take off your tinfoil hat, untwist your antenna made from a wire coat hanger, come out of your hole in the ground and breathe... There is no conspiracy with United, the FA, the PL or the press. To believe other wise would require immediate medical help and more than likely you would be sectioned
UIR: I once went to a yernited match with liverpool at OT and was sat in the stretford end with my mates. Very uncomfortable I can tell you. Worst home fans I've ever sat with (leeds were only slightly better!). In complete contradistinction, I once sat with Bolton fans v Liverpool and thouroughly enjoyed myself chatting with the Bolton lads about the game like mates. I've had similar experiences at other premiership grounds (most notably St. James' Park - again very friendly home fans). That would never happen at OT. It's a shame but it's true. I'd say there is a slight bias in the media towards some successful london clubs and also yernited - they were the best in the premiership for so long! The media is usually london-centric and the press (reporters can be glory hunters too!) will inevitably favour the more successful clubs.
Couldn't agree more Baz, Fergie hasn't got any class at all. We all saw the game last night and saw how dominent Everton were. Fergie talks utter tripe and the Man Utd fans lap it up.
