Apparently we are back in for Douglas of Twente, along with Newcastle - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2191238/Douglas-set-choose-Fulham-Newcastle.html?ITO=1490 After Saturday I don't understand why 'you know who' aren't interested - maybe they might be now that they see we are. Still not entirely sure why we're chasing him and frankly don't think it will happen. As always these things are only rumours but there has been an awful lot of them involving us in the last 24 hours so Jol appears to be busy somewhere. I'd settle for Eduardo, El Kaddouri and Rhodes.
Douglas story has been picked up by a local newspaper - http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport...-newcastle-for-defender-s-signature-1-4852875 the indepedent has an article on Dempsey http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...igger-shame-the-pfa-says-nothing-8063419.html
Just read the article. I liked the PFA comment. Deafening! He should have kept his mouth shut, got on with it and played. The club is bigger than the player after all?
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/08/21/3321749/qpr-beat-stoke-to-10m-signing-of-tottenham-defender-dawson More relevant to us, Spurs have said they are willing for Huddlestone to go out on loan. We've discussed him before, so I'll only say not on loan thank you.
Reports from dutch papers would suggest our offer (about £4m) has been accepted and it's down to agreeing personal terms. http://www.voetbalprimeur.nl/nieuws...ham?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter On a slight 'technical' note, Douglas is very close (this weekend I think) to qualifying for Dutch Nationality so should ease immigration things.
A permanent deal for Huddlestone around £8m would be perfect for us. However, I suspect it'll be £12m or loan, and that may not fit our plans particularly well.
He's a Spurs player, so take his value and double it, maybe triple it. Also, I see Liverpool are officially interested in Adam Johnson - so that's Allen, Assaidi and potentially him.
As long as Dawson keeps up his dismal performances against us I'll be happy. £7.5m crazy money, it almost pays for Vertoghen's transfer
A loan for Huddlestone wouldn't be good for us anyway. Full sale or nothing, so I am not too devastated. However, I can't see anyway that going to Stoke is good for his career...
I remember Douglas from our game against Twente last year ... he was impressive. He's a big, tall kid with confidence and good feet.
Eduardo has been reported as saying there has been no contact but doesn't rule out a Premiership move - http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1139217/eduardo-da-silva-dismisses-talk-of-fulham-transfer?campaign=rss&source=soccernet&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&cc=5739
Maarten Stekelenburg Another rumour about us looking to sign an experienced goalkeeper, which has to again raise questions about Stockdale's future - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11681/8009641
If this is true then I would be very happy with that signing I know stocky did well for us when he play but you can't pass up a change to sign a goalkeeper of stekenlenburg quality.
He was an absolute 'beast' and had BZ (who was playing fine at the time) in his pocket, DR. Signing him would be a terrific investment given the ages of the two Hs. According to the rumour mill a fee has been agreed and negotiations are near completion. The wee complication is that he needs to play one more game for Twente to qualify for Dutch Nationality and be eligible for the national team - which is an ambition of his. I'm sure something is being worked out but we probably won't hear anything official for a few days.
