I'd have preferred we kept Dawson and sold Gallas TBH, as Daws was a player who could rouse his teammates and get the crowd behind the team when he was asked, and always put his all into every performance. Also, a move to QPR will surely damage his England aspirations, as he's dropping down a couple of levels in the eyes of those who select the team (i.e. The Sun) whilst Gallas, whilst useful from a mentoring standpoint for Caulker (as well Fryers and Hall, whenever they arrive...) he's got a history of injury problems at times late last season looked to be on the decline whilst Dawson has a good 3-4 years in the tank. That being said, it is quite possible he will be available next summer for less than £9m, should we need to rejig our centre back options.

Dunno if anyone's said this, but Dawson has a sell on value. Gallas doesn't cause he's so old. Surely that must have been a big factor? Therefore levy has further funds for other improvements.
Sky Sports haven't been very accurate this summer although I do hope we're going in for a winger/forward type, I saw a bit of Forrest for Celtic earlier and I think we dodged a crap player there.
There is a fair amount of talent in the Russian league, just unsure if they can be a success elsewhere as its not a great league is it.
