Well ok, but how do you explain that he have only 100 matches during five seasons? Must have been a hell of a injury?
Tots, what would you value Dawson at? 28 years, missed a year through injury which he has yet to prove he is over..... but would be surprised if you didn't know all that, sorry
I take it you didnt see Bassong play for Wolves, he was beyond awful, who would you rather have for the same price, Bassong or Dawson? Dawson is being quoted as £3m, around the same price as Bassong and he is 10 times the player Bassong is.
the thing i look at is that a lot of Spurs fans rate him and are shocked he is going and would prefer him to stay that means that he is good and puts the effort in when he plays.
Cheers, this is what I like to see when we sign a player Makes a change from the fans of the selling club laughing at us! It was.
You might not have been told that you need to pay £9.5m to get Dawson, but you sure as hell would of been told to pay more than £3m. The jury is still out on Bassong, but if he can get back to the form he showed when Hughton coached him at Newcastle, he will be a good buy.
true, but I would rather beat the carrot crunchers 5-0 than 5-3, we have a -5 goal difference to make up
The local papers says its not £5m or £10m but £3m and they are far more likely to have contacts that the tabloids or SS.
With 3 million that Dawson transfer would be much more easier to understand. Still i am sceptic about that transfer.
And I'm sure if the local paper was reporting you were paying £10m and Sky Sports were reporting you were paying £3m, you would say that SS would have more contacts. Sky Sports are rarely wrong, so while I don't think you will be paying £9.5m for Dawson, their estimate will be closer to what your local rag suggested. The Evening Standard was reporting earlier we paid £5.5m for Bassong, which is absolute bullshit, and they're a local rag as well. FFS, I came on here to answer a serious question, and all you've given me is attitude!
Exactly how I see it, Trouble is we will never know the official fee as they are always "undisclosed". I wish the fees and wages were public knowledge like the yank sports.
No, local papers are always more likely to have more contacts and SS sensationalise everything to get viewers to keep on watching.
This man is a top class defender, hardly a panic buy! I doubt very much if we will hand over £9 mill for anyone, if he signs it will one of those undisclosed deals that in truth will be half the amount that's being banded about. I'm amazed at some of the comments on here, since Saturday the majority have been clamouring for us to sign a CB, it looks as though we may get one & there's still complaints. How expectations have shifted!
Well your local rag must be the best one I've heard of. I've moved around the country a lot in the last twenty years, and all the sport pages in the local rag's I've read have been stories that have been re-hashed from the national press.
The panic buy would be us paying 2 to 3 times what hes worth or do you think we should be doing that and just pay whatever other clubs ask?
But how do we know what will be paid? the figure is all media talk! And no, I don't think we should pay over the odds.
