Not too sure he was that good on Sat. Thought he was Pirlo for most of the first half with all his aimless long punts.

Fellaini is better in attack, but not as good in defence IMO.

Sssshhhhhh, we're trying to divert attention away from Tiote so that other teams don't come in for him!

Surprised at you Tash for not realising that!

So what's the most important thing? Your head on a spike or keeping Tiote?

Tiote is nowhere near as good as Fellaini. Fellaini is taller, has a better hairstyle, is lighter in skin colour, has a higher jersey number than Tiote, covers more grass on the pitch, works harder, passes better, shoots better, tackles better than Tiote. If Fergie wanted to buy anyone, the choice is clear.

    Racist <laugh>

I agree with all that has gone before, this Tiote lad is not all that. Mr Feilliani is out of this world and a must buy for Fergie, Wenger and Di Matteo. I say a bidding war must ensue. We'll aspire to train Tiote up to that standard. It'll take 5 years but we'll get there eventually

His passing on Saturday was absolutely atrocious and I'm getting sick of his stupid long range shooting but defensively he's as good as ever at breaking up play. Wish he would play more simple though as that's when he's most effective. In fairness his passing is normally a lot better than against Spurs, and he was doing two men's jobs with Cabaye unfit and non-existent.

Love Tiote, such a quality DM.

Not only was Cabaye unfit, but we were playing 4-4-2. I admit, I personally opted for this formation, but **** it. Let's just play 4-3-3 every game, even if we are a bit exposed to good teams. We can produce the quality to wins games.

Cabaye is far better in a 4-3-3. Jonas and Tiote in the DM roles, and Cabaye in a less demanding role defensively, and free to wave his magic wand. He played in this role at Lille and at the end of our last season, and he was immense. So many fantastic passes that could have decided games, and did do so. Even if we're not attacking to much, and defending like against Swansea, two world class passes from Cabaye, two great finishes from Cisse. 2-0.

    Ba--------Cisse---------Ben Arfa

    ---------Cabaye-----------

    ----Jonas--------Tiote--------

    Santon--Colo---Saylor----Simmo

    ------------Krul----------------

    <ok>

Our defensive mids can stay back and give Cabaye and our wingers more freedom from defensive duties. They'll still have to track back, but in a 4-4-2, Cabaye is needed too much defensively to be able to have the freedom to creative, and Ben Arfa isn't as good.

We were half cocked and beat Spurs. Cisse, Ba, Tiote (Benni?) are all just out of Ramadan, Cabaye had 20mins of pre season, Saylor played his first PL game in goodness knows how long, our fecking captain and most influential player was injured, our new signing had been there a matter of days, the list goes on. I'm pretty happy, like us in a 433 as you say, and hopefully we'll be closer to our true level come Chelsea. I'm sure we'll set up this way a lot of the time and seeing Cabaye released more this season is exciting.

<ok> Agreed, we're at our most fluent in this formation and keep the ball on the deck more. Jonas and Tiote are more than capable of protecting the back four and as you say Cabaye is 10x more threatening when not in a midfield two. I also think we tend to go more direct when we play 4-4-2 which as a side with such attacking threat is not the best way to break weaker teams down.

Honestly thought he was horrendous against Spurs, didn't see him make a single tackle or interception, his short passing (which is normally a great strength) was terrible also. He did track players but did not gain possession back for the team.

Hopefully just an off game though because when he did play last season he was very good, he was just unlucky with injuries.
