Lennon's our only viable option on the right, for me. Van der Vaart's wasted out there and leaves his full-back exposed, as he moves inside a lot and can't get back into position in time. Sigurdsson was used out there at previous clubs, but failed to make an impact until he switched to his current role. Might be interesting to see how a midfield triangle of our Dutch, Icelandic and Brazilian trio works. Bale and Lennon doing what they do best and our more attacking pair in the middle taking it in turns to get up and support the striker, perhaps? Harsh on Livermore, as he played well on the weekend, but we just don't carry enough of a goal threat playing with two holding midfielders. It's been tried time and again and it just doesn't work.
agree with all this PNP, especially the part about lennon. I don't understand why in this 4-2-3-1 formation, it is constantly suggested that VDV plays as the right sided player of the "3". it just results in no threat down that side whatsoever as he doesn't have the pace. the opposition become acutely aware of this, and as a result, the double up on bale, thus completely negating us. I think we have no balance when we play this. again, I'm also in the camp of "1 DMF only". with 2 of them, it's a waste of a player. - and with our new style, it will cause the wingers to be exhausted after 70 mins, with no like for like replacements to come on.
4231 works fine for a lot of teams, but it is a lot different tactically from 4411 (especially if only one of the forward three is a winger) so it will take a bit of time to settle down. The fact that Harry couldn't make it work says more about him than the concept.
I like this team, but would go with Lennon instead of Hudd, get attacking and hope Sandro can hold the DM fort. Until we get Ade in, it's all going to be lopsided anyway.
I've never been convinced by Dawson, I know he gives 100% and genuinely seems to care about the club but his lack of pace and the fact he only seemed to look good alongside King (who I think would of made anyone look class) always worried me. Gallas, Kaboul and Vertonghen are all better and with Caulker we have a great prospect so if £8million is offered then we should take it. That said if he does leave I really does wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts at Spurs.
Daws is our captain this season, which pretty much says that he'll be staying. And, unlike a certain other London team, when we hand someone the captaincy that doesn't mean they'll be off at the end of the season...
just heard from a work mate,we accepted transfer offer's from 2 clubs,Stoke are one of them, for Dawson.
Spurcat said that this would happen the other day, when he suggested that Dawson was going to miss the game against the Geordies because of a family bereavement. I've read somewhere that his great grandfather died, but I have no idea how accurate that is.
he also said that Ade is training with Spurs,i don't know how but he seem's to be in the know,i do know he is a massive fan
I'd suggest that he's just reading the Spurs ITK crap online, Totsfan. It says exactly what you've just posted.
yeah, there were some pics last night on twitter from training yesterday, which had been clearly cropped. in the background you could see these beanpole legs! they had to be Ade's!!
The pics were prob cropped to hide redknapps face as they were from last season. these people "ITK" will use all the tricks to try and make out they know anything!
He was a big disappointment. I expected more from him but didnt like to admit we bought deadwood from Newcastle. Oh well the budgies can have him. I guess his best moment at spurs was his debut game
