Maybe we misread Manny's post?

Maybe he meant Schumacher + Brawn - Mercedes but call them a different name instead, say Ferrari or Benetton (but without any Ferrari or Benetton bits on the car, just the name) would mean unlimited success?

That way he ensures that the topic stays on track as a Mercedes rebranding thread and is saying that without the Mercedes name, Schuey + Brawn will be awesome again, rather than just another pointless post regarding how good he thinks Schuey is/was/could be/comparatively speaking/look at his teammate/1 pole position (taken away) etc etc!

Unfortunately, he is forgetting that without Mercedes money, Schuey would never have entered F1 in the first place in 1991, so a bit disrespectful to Mercedes on Manny's part?

Don't put words in my mouth. I originally meant that without extra pressure of Mercedes, and with just Michael and Brawn working together, maybe something special could happen again.
But being the only Schumacher fan here, I put myself in the firing line of attacks. As usual.

PS. well it wasn't a waste of Mercedes money was it?

- Does Schumacher have time to kick start another chapter in his career?
- Does this change interupt the Mercedes dream with Schumacher?
- Will AMG take command on the driver front and who do they want to represent thier brand?

It is a shame though. It looks like the Mercedes foray into F1 is to be as short as their last attempt

If they wanted to be a top team they should've hired top drivers, I've never been impressed with Rosberg, and Schumacher, well, if he were a bacon sandwich for sale on a shelf the health inspectors would've closed the place down due to the expiry date being long past. Even with the DDRS they havn't looked particularly good except in shanghai, now (I suspect) some other teams will have it on the power tracks even that advantage has gone, their development has been awful, a bit of a one trick pony whose trick just doesn't cut the mustard.

'Fan' is a bit of an understatement.

I don't really think the drivers are a problem, if they have the car to show their true performance, than that would be great.

Other than Alonso, who this season has fought for the top in a car not suited to the track. In dry conditions.

Couldn't agree more. A great driver makes up for a cars deficiency. Really shows through this season

Both Merc drivers have hit their own targets, but nothing special. On Mercedes' side, they have let fans down as an F1 team.
As a positive it is allowing smaller teams some success.
Bam.. thats a comment ahaha.

I agree, The mercedes development has been poor from the get-go. They had a head start too!! testing 2012 parts late through the 2011 season. Then pre season was a failure. Sure they topped the first few but in the old car then delay after delay and another delay before the car was launched. Then it appears (just like last year) the car is good in straight lines and not so good in other areas. It is no wonder they were good in china and probably will be again in Italy (though other theams may have copied their party trick by then).

Same story every year haha. Maybe they should actually build a car that is not exceptional but average on all tracks, as consistency is the key.
Lotus have capitalised on this.

dead on. Lotus tried the innovative route in 2011 and failed. This year they built a sensible car and its working great.

I must be honest it perplexes me how Mercedes have cancelled development early on in both of their seasons in order to focus on next year's car yet still managed only one victory. I think the problem is that the way they design the car - DDRS will be particularly bad I'd imagine - simply doesn't leave enough room to develop the chassis throughout the year (as opposed to Mclaren last year and Ferrari this), and at the same time they weren't even the fastest car at the beginning of the season so they didn't exactly lay down a gauntlet to their rivals.

They are running themselves into a dead end. What a disaster.

I agree with the general tone of the recent comments about Mercedes' performance in this thread. I'm not sure about the rebranding yet, but 'AMG' would seem most likely, if it were to happen – and I do not think this would adversely affect the team.

It's good to see that the discussion has become interesting; and I'd like to thank EMSC in particular.
