It probably won't happen, but if we lose our first 5 games we may not be able to get back from it!!

To be honest, I think we need to start teaching adel to either lean how to play on the left, stay on the left and fit in the team instead of trying to fit the team around him.

Our style of play very nearly got found out in the championship, and if adel had an off day we were nearly always in trouble. Somehow we always dug deep with effectively 10 players on the pitch. But this is the premiership and adel has to adapt. At the moment in order to play adel, we have to play a formation with only 1 up front. It's not the formation Hughes usually played and with the likes of Zamora and cisse, one the perfect hold up and lay off player, and cisse the fastest 30+ player crying out for Zamoras lay offs.

But we can't cause of Adel. What do you do? If we buy a rock solid defence then maybe we don't have to worry about the likes of adel and Hoilett tracking back.

But Hughes has got to play about with things and try it all out, which will bring about more defeats and it could be another difficult season, but we have to accept these things as part of building a team. For those crying for Hughes head, green out and Barton to be hung drawn and quartered, we are Qpr, we aren't doing a citeh, we are buying sensibly but it still takes time. If you're not happy about that then I guess you support the wrong club.

But for the wise heads, patients will be a virtue.

    You echo my thoughts col

My main issue is that yet again Hughes has been unable for whatever reason to name a settled side. We used more players last season in the prem than anyone else, 35 of them. I wouldn't be suprised to see that happen again

I hear you col. We definitely have a squad to perform and with the full pre season we had we should have started well. But we didn't. I find myself now questioning the ability of MH whereas prior to the game, I thought he was one of the best going around. I hope TF had a good long chat with him first thing Monday morning because in my mind he has wasted the entire pre season. The players have learnt nothing, they don't know each other, we have no settled formation etc. My world has just been turned upside down with that result.....

We can't keep buying our way out of trouble!

Is rob green the next pat agyemang / fitz hall? I doubt it but now we're looking at Bassong who hasn't played since last Xmas......what about Hughes file of unearthed gems he researched between jobs? Has he left it on the bus ?

Col, it's a conundrum, but it's a bloody lovely position to be in! Think back a year, the choice was dj or agyeman.

It will just take a bit of time, heart and realisation that it will take a few defeats before it clicks, but it will.

Anyone remember that goal from mark robins in the cup that saved Alex ferguson? The rest is history!

Very good article Col. If you paragraphed it and spaced it and dressed it up a bit, it could even have been the best OP we've had this Season.

One thing I would say is that Mark Hughes has a very good right back right under his nose in Luke Young. Yet he plays Onuoha there and the boy is no more a RB than I am.

I think this season is going to be a real rollercoaster with us giving someone a hiding then the following week, taking a hiding. Its gonna be all over the place.

I just think he underestimated Swansea, thought an all out attack would demolish them.

Norwich away can't get any worse.....can it?

Lot of good points Col. But what is it with Park - good worker, but he's not a CDM or a strong box to box guy, and for me we have better attacking midfield players. I think we need to solidify our defensive game by going 4-2-3-1, and surely it has to be Diakite and Derry in the 2. But then we need to use our best 4 attacking players further forward, which for me doesn't include Park. I reckon these are Cisse who I'd have in the 3, coming in from the right for his goal scoring ability, Adel center, and Hoillet out left, with BZ target man. Doubt MH is going to leave Park out though, as he obviously sees this guy as his big star.

I agree if MH doesn't fix this by about October, we should have a new man coming in. I doubt Arry is the solution though, reckon he's past his prime, and if he came to us it would be mostly for the pay check.

Good write up col but I'm a bit confused with

"If we lose to Norwich on Saturday, like we usually do, it is conceivable that we could go on to be bottom of the table with no points from 5 games!"
