So after this weekend...who honestly can put thier hand up and truely believe we will get 10th position this season? Not a negative thread, just one to get us off our arses, where we seriously are... We gonna get a win this weekend or what..? Personally i called 4-0 Swans (see previous posts)..and I'm calling a 1-nil Norwich win...with us playing much better. We wil easily be safe this season, but we have to accept some ****e to start with.. Just my opinion?/......thoughts?
Why 10th, Queensy? I think the majority voted for around 12th-14th and I do think its achievable. Remember, its a long season.
yeah i think we will be safe what people have to remember is there is a lot of new players to gel together and learn each others game it will take a few games to get right but it will come good.
swords..plenty of people said 10th when i posted that post a few weeks ago...just wondered if reality has kicked in yet ?
It all depends on who else is brought in, if we keep the current squad as it is we will struggle in the bottom six, we need two defenders and, ideally, a strong central midfielder...
I'm still sticking with a top ten finish.....Just like last season with 10 games to go, i stuck with us staying up when many on here had us doomed to the Championship. It's one game ffs, no more, no less. We are only 4 points from going top..
I sincerely see us getting higher than 10th this team has a lot of magic and flair about it ... we win then no one on here will slag off the defence. Saturday was a freak show. I thought we would win by 6 as i never saw the Swans doing what they did... I never thought for a minute that ML would start so well. We need to ensure that this sort of performance never comes again ... if we do that we are in the top ten at a canter
Before Swansea I said 12th-14th. And thats exactly where I see us. We are not good enough, or consistent enough to get top 10 imo. We are still weak in some areas - CB, CM and ST.
I think we'll have an average season but get better gradually. I'm pretty sure Hughes' Fulham side didn't win many of their first 7, mind they didn't lose 5-0 either. But I won't be ringing any alarm bells for a while yet, would like to see a much more assured performance against Norwich but please god let's hope we don't play for the draw.
Indeed, we have to hope Faurlin comes back strong and fearless in the tackle from the start. It's a big ask of him after that type of injury though.
Sorry dont think I can take losing to Norwich again, even with an improved performance. Putting aside the weekends results we've got to be looking at 3 points especially with a difficult run of games after.
Without wishing to sound rude, but WTF is up with some people? We lose 1 game and it's all doom and gloom? I didn't hear these people moaning when we were signing these quality players. It will take time for them to settle and we will be buying at least two defenders, that you can guarantee. But look at our situation, we have had to rebuild 3 times in the space of a year, so it's no wonder things don't always work out, but they will. Hoilett looked great in parts, some may not think that Park shouldn't be captain, I disagree as he will always run until he's dead and his quality will inspire the others. Although he should replace mackie on the right as most man utd fans said ge shouldn't play in the middle. But until faurlin is fit he's the best option. But come on guys, do you think man u fans called for fergies head when citeh smashed them at the start of last season? Look at the thrashing arsenal took at old trafford, but they finished 3rd. The thing that makes me laugh is the amount of people who are screaming for us to act like we did under briatore and sack the manager after 1 game, but I bet these people were moaning when we were going through managers like a dose. Hughes has added old heads and young legs. We just need to settle down and it will all come good, but Rome and shepards bush weren't built in a day. But it is easy to see why Barton longs to be back at Newcastle, their fan back their players to the hilt, while we seem to slag players off after 1 game. So who can blame him. Thank god there are still a few of us with wise heads and an ounce of belief.
There are ten 'must win' home games: West Ham,Reading,Shampton,Villa,Foolham,WBA,Norwich,Sunderland,Wigan and Stoke. We would then need another 12 points from 27 games to be confident of survival, which must be do-able. Anything beyond that against the 'bigger clubs' is a bonus.
This. Can't understand the pessimism here. 5-0 defeat could be blessing for us instead of scrappy 1-2 defeat with a big amount of bad luck in it. Now, that deafeat to Swansea was a freak one as everybody knows. We were mentally crushed after their second one, so the last three goals for them were just fomality. Swansea had absolutely glorious day and their scoring rate was magnificent even so our defencing was poor . However in the another day even that match could have been totally different matter. Our first 40 minutes or so were quite ok and just the goal was missing. Bosingwa and the future new CB will put our defence in order and Cisse wont be so isolated another time.
