sorry for non-football post, but this made me laugh
someone sent me this dissection of the anti a/v campaign for the referendum on 5th may

i think the most important thing about it for me is that the BNP are against a/v as it'll mean they are less likely to pick up seats in low turnout areas.
Oh, and the Tories are against it as well :)

    I love it!

I'm personally voting for AV. One, because I think it's the better system and two, it'll just make it ever so slightly more interesting to vote.

I'm waiting for the alternative alternative voting system due sometime in 2020.

    You get one vote.

    There is only one candidate.

    Simon Cowell.

Ameobi's Zeppelin... do you study Critical Thinking by any chance?

Either way, I've voted Yes to AV... it's the only way that a party such as UKIP realistically have a chance of gaining seats in parliament.

I got this leaflet this morning. I love how they keep calling AV undemocratic, when First Past The Post, is in itself....undemocratic. It's not a case of the person with the most votes winning at all? Realistically only Labour and the Tories can win under FPTP...and loads of votes dont count for anything at all, hence they're wasted. And I do love how they've said AV is unpopular because only 3 countries use it....arent there like 2 that have FPTP, us and America?

But im still undecided what to vote for though, if it was up to me, we'd have had the choice between FPTP and The Supplementary Vote.

The tories are against it because they know fine well that everyone that votes for the 'alternative' parties would prefer labour over tories any day of the week, and they wont get in, ever.

I'd love to know who tagged the bottom of the thread.
Ok this is a footie forum, but we have plenty of off-topic threads on a daily basis from the mundane to the entertaining and this brings up a serious subject for once in an entertaining manner and someone instead of posting something has hidden behind the tags. Unfortunately I doubt that person has the bottle to admit to the tagging.
Politics aren't pointless, it's the once chance you get to have a (limited) say in how our country is run, if you don't care about them, don't ****ing complain when **** goes wrong.

    /rant over.

    Nice Bill hicks quote.
TBH the "guy" is more of a group of a few different companies these days or more specifically a few trans-national companies, but if there is one stand out guy, it'd have to be Rupert Murdoch.
The system is flawed and it is certainly not truely democratic, but no system ever will be - be that socialism, capitalism or any other method we manage to create or have created to govern people, but politics & the vote is the only chance we get to have a say in that regard, hence why I said limited.

AV will at least let us choose our preference of candidate meaning there's less likelihood that the big 3 will always be the main guys in the houses of Parliament. It would give us a higher, albeit limited, control over who gets in than our current system where I'm left to strategically vote in a party I don't want, but prefer to the other main party. It's not the best method of doing things, but it's better than FPTP and that's all that matters for me.
