Rob Green had a poor game it happens yet some fans are blaming him for the whole team performance=fickle have seen many a player over the years have a shocker and recover to become legends i.e. David Seaman.Mark Hughes got the balance wrong and admitted that as we were too attack biased and will change that for upcoming fixtures.the midfield left the defence unprotected too much and Cisse was left isolated, there lies the reason for saturdays melted ice cream in the balmy heat.i'm not making excuses as i never do that but if you decide that a player is useless after only one game there is a club in sw19 that would be happy to accomodate you in their stadium full of glory hunters and knowledgeless plonkers.Mark Hughes performed a major lazarus keeping up last season and already certain fans are calling for his head, again jog along to sw19 if that is you're attitude.if you call yourself a true fan you will be objective and give EVERY player time to settle in.If you don't like what i say then i don't care as it's solely my opinion but hopefully it makes some think before they spout off.
Please don't - it all nearly kicked off on here with the Murray vs Federer thread last time.... [Good post mate ]
Just look at the Arsenal fans and RVP.....the funny thing is if you call them Fickle they get on their high horses, as if some self realization offends them. its OOOHHH so predictable that after that loss, we would have article after article, stating that MH isnt the man for the job (some of those articles even mentioned the thought of writting the article before our 5-0 loss, but decided against it using the cushion of a 5-0 defeat to strengthen their logic)....its all testicles. Mistakes were made in that game and the best judge of a manager with new players is how he learns and changes those mistakes. Green made a mistake for that first goal and is getting slated, but if he saves us points and has a great game you'll hear everyone saying how amazing he is. Its all to easy to predict failure and then when it finally happens, popping your head out and saying "I told you so" and if it never happens, hiding your head in the sand, where most people will forget you even said anything.
Great post ... I do worry about the future of our fan base and I ask where is all the anger today from people like Yappytit etc? with their one way bile valves ?
Ade..welcome home mate..Me. Judo, Flyer, Ric and others know you and your beliefs......... You are a great addition to this board and it means not only I wil be fighting with Flyer !!!! FYI...DT, FFS, BRIX and bobmid are god here...dont disagree with Col or swords as they will shout at ya !! PS..keep our previous identities under wraps..0please....well except Flyer !!
That is about the best summary I've seen so far on the subject! I'll be honest and say I had doubts about Green. I also had a grump about Warnock going and Hughes coming in but once it all gets decided I just have to adapt as best I can and back whoever is there at the club. I'm not immune from moaning but think eveyone should be innocent until proven guilty.
Hello and welcome Ade! Trouble is Green has been a nervous wreck for years, and I hope we find someone better before 1/9! But if he stays between our posts I'll be supporting him.
Nothing wrong with moaning over a teams performance.....its natural to do so. But A LOT of people let their head rule their heart and splurt out a load of tripe, so soon ater the pain still rings true from such a heavy defeat. To want to get rid of Mark Hughes after one game, is so utterly stupid its beyond comprehensible....yet these same people probably got their pitch forks out when Flavio Briatore sacked managers left right and centre, when they failed to win more then 5 games in a row!
Ade good to chat with you again, havenot spoke for while since your old site. Still eating the Irish stew? Ellers (Ellerslieroad)
There's 2 of us now and we're coming for you Swords.... The "QPR Revoltion" is happening right now...! Swordsy..If you put your head above the parapit......
In response to the OP I dont think anyone (other than maybe Queenslander at Taarabt) have been daft enough to single out an individual as being more responsible than anyone else. So I think your reacting to an argument that you've created. Green did start the disater by gifting Swansea the opener and this changed the dynamic of the game and Hughes didnt react and adjust and then the disater unfolded from there with only Hoilett being immune from much critisicm. Most post have strayed along these lines and that is a fair reflection And sorry to be pedantic but the accusation of being fickle is banded about too easily in football as a way of putting people down. Definition of fickle: describe persons or things that are not firm or steady in affection, behavior, opinion, or loyalty 1 game in and saying he is rubbish. That is a entirely consistent opinion. So you can't really label these fans who allegedly blame Green for the whole performance as fickle
Good OP Ade, one mistake isn't the end of the world. Not helped by a midfield that did an impression of the parting of the Red Sea, as you say the balance was wrong. We'll fix it but, as I've pointed out, we're still far from the finished article...
Green has history that goes way back before him signing for us. Apart from his well known nerves his reflexes seem shot too. That first goal unnerved the whole team and especially the thrown together back four. However none of this is Green's fault, he tries to be a decent keeper regardless of his problems. The blame, if there is one, lies with one man alone: MH.
