    I'd try not to use the word "the". It can be very upsetting in the wrong context.

    Agreed. One time when I took train down to London to see Queen's jubilee parade I used word *** and one of guards heard me and called police. I tried looking in saurus but couldn't find alternative word to use. :(

    If a wordsmith like yourself is struggling, what chance do the mackems have is my first thought? Poor buggers. Its a linguistic minefield.

    No... forbidden words actually exist <whistle>


    I don't particularly enjoy the word "scum" being used by football supporters. Using words like this show up a lack of intelligence more than using swear words which have a specifically designed purpose in our language. Each to their own, however, it's just words.

    Troll, that's another one. The word lost all impact when the likes of Reddit and 9gag (lol I troll u) got hold of it, now it's caught on in the popular media it's just cringeworthy.

    In the context of this forum, I feel 'WUM' is much more appropriate. <ok>

    A troll is something that lives under a bridge and occasionally eats the children of villagers (until Disney get there hands on a heart-warming twist), so not sure what it's got to do with anything that goes on around a forum.

    I actually laugh at the term "WUM" as well, the power it has on a forum... "How dare you, I'm not a WUM"... Like we're about to start lighting the pyres and preparing the drowning sacks to hold a collective WUM killing sesh!

    I am the biggest WUM in everyday life, taking the piss out of anyone or anything, including myself. Only it's called banter out there in the wilderness (until I start crying because my relentless vitriol/bile (another of the lovely phrases I've picked up on these things) burns me)!

    <laugh> Ohhhhh... That's why people keep saying that...

    I thought I was so sexually desirable that women couldn't keep their inhibitions in, that my flies were open, or that the nudist colony I once crossed in Sunderland had strict only-female-membership policies or something... It all becomes clear now!
