They were pretty bad. Nothing really at all in the first half until they scored right before the HT whistle, but the second half they started to fall apart, getting spread out, not being aware, and the runs of ****ing Shane Long were causing them trouble.

It was very weird, normally they are rock solid.

Was suprised at agger is usually a decent player, maybe not as much protection in this new system of theirs but it's to early to say.

Do you not think they were playing a higher line than last year. Ala AVB in his first few games at Chelsea?

I know he can do the job there but I don't like that we are lacking adequate cover at LB. Johnson is much better on the right and I think it threw the balance off a bit with the defenders. When it is Enrique, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson we are normally solid. Start to mess with it and it kind of falls apart, not the same understanding.

Will be interesting to see who Rodgers selects for City, youth with COates and let him learn, or experience with Carra. With the movement of Tevez I would prefer Coates.

I didn't think so, I think naturally when you have the ball in the oppoenets half you are going to push up and close the gaps. When Long was 1 v1 with agger in the second and when he got played through in the first they were about 15-20 yards in front of the 18 so not really that high up.

Skrtel slipping didn't help but why he followed Long all the way to the side just for Long to obviously make the run inside was a bit dumb, let them play the ball into the corner but dont give the gap between yourself and agger for the forward to run in and collect.

Yeah that's not a bad starting defence if you keep them all fit. What's up with enrique?

For the interest of our league campaign I'm hoping you can keep a clean sheet against city. Also have Johnson in my fantasy team, thought he would get a couple of assists this year!

Those stats don't look too bad for a game we lost 3-0. Strange how we only committed 1 more foul but got 3 extra yellows. Actually, taking the Agger incident away, we committed the same number of fouls and got 3 more. Mulumbu smashed into the back of Suarez and got nothing, while Olsson (as is his game) was pushing and elbowing all day.

2 stats explain why you lost.

Goals scored and shots on target.

Doesn't the 'goals' stat always explain why a team loses?
Anyway, that was hardly a response to my point.
You didn't watch the game in full. Most of those shots came after we were losing 2-0 and down to 10 men. Think they only had 2 or 3 shots all first half, with 1 on target.

Yes but shots on target give you the chance to score.

West brom were superior in both aspects and thus won the game. Doesnt always work like that but more often than not thats how it is. Possession counts for nothing really, you can win a game without the ball has a team showed recently.

You cant win without getting shots on target and of course scoring.

I didnt watch the game, I never watch full Liverpool games as they are boring ( not a dig, just my views )

How do you know if you never watch them in full? <whistle>
And yeah, I know shots on target give you a better chance, although we more often than not dominated that particular stat last year and came away with draws and losses.
And it goes without saying that if you are superior in goals scored, you win.

WBA started getting shots in once we imploded and went down to 10 men. Before that they had one shot and scored with it... happened plenty of times last season, our biggest problem is down the other end.

Our mentality is so weak as well. Whenever we get scored on we just let our heads drop. Why City won yesterday and we lost ( included with quality players to make a difference).

Doesnt matter when you have the shots zingy. It matters that you have them and that they are on target. If they are on target you have a 50% chance of scoring. If off target you have a 0% chance of scoring ( roughly, its not quite that simple, deflections etc ).

And Suarez, I can get everything from highlights when its goals and shots on target as they are usually all included <laugh>

What about the possibility of having a trouble maker in your midsts? A bad egg so to speak.

What I mean is maybe amongst the players theres someone who would have to be quite a powerful figure who sort of huffs and puffs when things dont go right. V WBA for example, perhaps going in 1-0 down you had someone saying something like 'oh not this **** again' and other players start doubting themselves.

No idea who it could be but if it was the case it would have to be one of your main players, one with influence, Gerrard maybe? Unlikely its him but hes still the main influence on the team.

Doubt it, I think this mentality has been building since Rafa left and there just seems to be the thought process of if we go down we are ****ed. I think it has more or less worn itself into the team than one bad egg. It is hard to break as well.

It was just a thought. It would explain why Liverpool have no fighting spirit at the minute though.

Let's see what happens at City, especially if we go a goal down.

Tough game for you lot tonight, don't think Everton will be easy, not the easiest first game at least but then again we ****ed it against WBA.
