Bad news on Matty... Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham Matty Fryatt has gone to see a specialist today re his Achilles injury. Becoming a concern for City. And the McKenna to Donny story might have legs... Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham Steve Bruce also confirmed at his presser that Doncaster have shown an interest in Paul McKenna. Nothing more at this stage.
David Burns ‏@bbcburnsy Get the impression Guy Moussy at Forest may be on the list #hcafc. David Burns ‏@bbcburnsy Steve Bruce will talk to Sir Alex Ferguson next week about possibilties of loans. Sunderland pair I think are still priorities. #hcafc... David Burns ‏@bbcburnsy Steve Bruce says Matty Fryatt to see a specialist this week. Scan on achilles is clear but still hurting. #hcafc
Not great about Fryatt - though I suppose with Simpson looking good, things could be worse. I really hope we don't sell McKenna - he is fantastic for us. A defensive midfielder playing for City that doesn't actively get booed? Must be a world beater.
While I'd rather not lose McKenna, I'm not concerned. It's not like we're being outbid by a bigger club. We hold the cards. If he goes, it will be because Bruce has found his replacement. Isn't Meyler capable of playing that role? Fryatt's situation is very concerning, but at least its come when Simpson is ready to take his chance. Let's hope he gets good news from the specialists.
Too true he gets on with the job he's asked and to effect, Brucies hinted near weekend to be possibly on the look out for another attacking midfielder so more strength going forward
On the 2 performances I have seen of McKenna this season, I think his legs are on the way out. I certainly wouldn't be upset at losing him as long as we get some sort of back up. For me Corry Evans should be starting ahead of him every week once he is fully fit. Not good news for Fryatt, think that could be a major loss. McLean isn't a goal scorer, Proschwitz still has a lot of adapting to do, and Simpson is far from proven (believe me, I really hope he does prove himself) so it leaves us without a regular goal scorer and you really wouldn't have noticed any difference between Saturday and the majority of our games over the past 2 seasons (relating to our striking issues).
im more concerned about fryatt, as bruce can effect if mckenna goes or not . your top scorer from the season before injured is a bugger for any team..
It does say in the Sheffield star the following quote from Dean Saunders. We’ve had some contact with Hull City but nothing has been agreed and I don’t know if they are going to go through with it,” he said. Maybe there is going to be a trade off with Coppinger for McKenna, or maybe Coppinger is a back stop if SB doesn't get is target from Sunderland
Moussi is the reason Sonko went from being considered half-decent at Reading to leaving Reading and never being the same again... Saw quite a few Forest fans discussing the possibility of loosing Moussi to us and about 75% of them said they'd be happy to see the back of him, as apparently now "he's either injured or plays and looses the ball all the time". I saw a fair bit of him in his debut season and he looked a beast... ironic that he ended up taking McKenna's place in the Forest team, with many Forest fans last season saying they miss McKenna.
I'm concerned about most to be honest. Say what you want about Fryatt, but when the team doesn't particularly look like scoring he can get something out of nowhere. Take the Leicester away match last year, we were absolutely DIRE. Yet one run on goal and bang, 1-0 to us. And this is a reason why letting McKenna go would be a travesty too. RoKo wasn't playing that day, and McKenna provided the one bit of creativity with a world-class pass. We need him for at least another 1 or 2 seasons.
I think Fryatt was a big miss on Saturday, we will be much better when he is back in the team. As for McKenna, I think if we get another defensive midfielder who has the nerve to shoot, then I don't think we will miss him TBH
I am equally concerned about both but i dont see Bruce letting McKenna go unless Donny offer stupid money for him. He has been as good as any so far this season. The situation mybe assessed in January but as McKenna does not have a desire to leave I dont see Bruce wanting that either. Maybe Bruce snr should be offering Danny East to Donny on loan instead. Throw in Jamies Devitt also ? imo
Totally agreed with this. They both DESPERATELY need first team football to improve and push to get into the City line-up. However still feel Devitt is not good enough for the Championship.
McKenna's another traffic warden, I've no idea why he's so highly rated on here. Probably because he replaced Harper.
McKenna is fantastic, really hard working and not afraid to get stuck in, a real battler. I would be sad to see him go.
His achilles is hurting but his scan shows clear,so the scan has grounds for optimism. I just hope Matt isn't fiegning injury because he wants out. There were quite strong signs in the the close season of this. Matty will get us another 16 goals this season if he comes back soon. Im also a bit concerned that people seem to think that Jay will fill his shoes. He got us the winner on saturday, and all of a sudden, some think he's going to be our No1 striker. I really hope he will be, but he is still very much unproven.
Yes but he does nothing attacking wise he is afraid to shoot, and from an experienced centre mid that is unacceptable I'm afraid.
