Stop already - Chamakh? You sound like one of those car traders... 'nah seriously mate, the engines a little greasy, it coughs a little but with a bit of love and tenderness from the right owner it'll run like a dream' ... as 10 mins after you buy it the banger explodes into a ball of flames... but I watch rouge traders and know what you are up to so you and your Chamakh gti can **** right off cos we ain't buying him!
Saw a tweet last night where a girl posted a picture of her and Freund. Apparently she bumped into him last night and probed him. (Oi Oi) He confirmed (according to her) that Ade is done, and there will be another striker.
Chamakh? WTF? I'd rather have Bendtner Ade + 1 more striker sounds good. Surely we could do better than Chamakh as the +1 though
Have you's heard anything on Adam Johnson because apparently it is between Sunderland and Tottenham for the player?
we're linked with every1 mate. i'd love to see AJ in a spurs shirt, but I don't think it's a priority for the club right now. rumoured to be about 15mill, too? we'll never pay that.
I haven't, but i think he's a step up from Lennon. Although i do like Lennon. Johnson -> Spurs Lennon -> Sunderland? Jenas can play right wing. You want?
I agree, i think Johnsons overall game is better than lennon's. I am also a lennon fan too and think he has many good qualities, but I'm getting sick and tired of seeing Lennon waste so many crosses and that part of his game not really making much of an improvement.
I don't think Johnson's better than Lennon but he adds something different and we need competition in that area so I hope we are in for him. I think we might be getting linked with him because we were interested in him before he moved to City and about a year or so ago.
Hi lads, My chain of thought on AJ is as above, I personally would be delighted if you got him, and we took Lennon, I think Lennon is more direct, and that would be perfect for us. As I don't see that happening, I'm baffled that your even in for Johnson, I know he's a cracking player, and I'd be over the moon with him, it'd be a real statement signing from us, but creating chances isn't gonna be an issue for Spurs regardless, even if Modric ain't there, you need a striker, and a really top one at that, seems daft, and unlikely, to me that you'd spunk £15million on a winger that's not in the class of Bale, and so close to Lennon all round that it's almost pointless. AJ will play every week with us, he'll rotate at Spurs, surely he wants to move to play every week! Sidenote, Defoe looks back on it, so we can stop fantasising about him I guess...
£15mill does sound a little steep for him but if we're to do well we need some competition and Lennon and Bale currently have none. Plus I think we can probably afford a net spend in transfers of around £10/15mill and with it currently standing at £2mill with Modric and a few others possibly heading out I think we can afford a striker, a winger and a Modric replacement. You might be right about him wanting guarunteed starts but with Lennon and Bale prone to knocks and us having the Europa League I can see him getting plenty of opportunities. Johnson's problem seemed to be that he'd always get benched again no matter how well he played. As I say, there might be no truth in it as we tend to get linked to players like Johnson based on interest we had years ago. With his apparent high cost and possibly high wages he still wouldn't be my first choice but we could do a lot worse.
All fair mate, and unquestionably he's gonna be a very tidy signing wherever he goes, but he'd be absolute marquee for us, it's the kind of signing that could kick us on. I get what your saying on the competition aspect, and that Lennon & Bale both miss a few games, but would a club as tightly ran as yourselves look at paying 70k a week for a non first XI player? I dunno. Surely your gonna need big bucks for Mouthinho to replace Modric, and Adebayor is gonna take a massive slice of your wage budget, assuming you complete the deal. Guess we have to just sit & wait.
Well we're paying Bentley, Jenas and Bassong about £140k per week just to twiddle their thumbs so there's definitely wages to be freed up. I can understand it's frustrating though to think that your big signing could be signed by another club only for them to sit on the bench, it's happened to us enough times too. Moutinho seems unlikely with the prices being quoted. I think we'll go for Dembele who should be available at around half the price and would be a much smarter signing in my opinion. As for Defoe, who you mentioned earlier, it's tough to tell. AVB might be talking up Defoe and Kane now but if we land Ade or another quality striker I can see Defoe reverting back to his role on the bench as an impact player which he wasn't happy with last year. I'd like him to stay because he has a genuine affection for the club, which is rare these days but I wouldn't begrudge him leaving if he doesn't want another season of bit part appearances.
If we were to sign Johnson, then I think he'd add a very useful dimension to our game and he'd also suit Villas-Boas' style, as he seems to favour wingers that can cut inside a lot. Bale, Lennon and the former Boro player competing for two places also sounds interesting. Dos Santos out, Johnson in? It'd be a start.
Forgot about Bentley, ****ing hell, bet he's on a monster wage as well! We're fighting to get into that group just behind you, Liverpool, Toon, Everton & maybe Fulham, if Dembele & Dempsey are to move on , Fulham will have a problem, 2 really smart players, I can see Dembele at Spurs, he'd fit right in. The difference that AJ & Defoe would make to us is immense, we'd be genuinely looking towards top 7, which is the next step for us, it's still quite a gap at the minute, but players of the calibre of those 2 could instantly close it. The suggestion is that he's said no to 2 clubs already, leaving us, you & Liverpool in the running is a boost in itself, we know in terms of stature we're also-rans with you and Liverpool, so we're pinning it on the local lad card, and the nailed on 90mins every week. I'd probably take Jenas mind, I think he's half decent, if below the standard you guys want right now, and I'd certainly take Dos Santos, I think he has so much potential it's unreal. Made for Spain, realistically.
I see that, according to reports, Man City have had a £31mil bid for De Rossi turned down. However, luckily for them, they are in advanced negotiations to buy Jovetic from Fiorentina for a measly £24mm. FFS, how is anybody supposed to compete with that kind of financial firepower. As if their squad wasn't strong enough, they casually go out and are willing to spend another £50mil+ without batting an eyelid!..it's crazy!..
