Swansea City are in talks with Celtic over a bid to sign South Korean midfielder Ki Sung Yueng. Armed with a £15million bounty after selling star player Joe Allen to Liverpool, Swans manager Michael Laudrup has identified Ki as a replacement after being scared off a move for Boltonâs Mark Davies by the £8m price tag and may be prepared to throw in Stephen Dobbie as a sweetener. However, Celtic sources say further offers for Ki are expected this week and have placed an offer of £5m from the Welsh club on ice in anticipation of a transfer bidding war. Queens Park Rangers, Arsenal, Fulham, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid are also interested in Ki and a move to Wales may not suit him, while Celtic are unlikely to accept less than £8m for a player with 15 months remaining on his current contract. And Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby confirmed the midfielder wants to leave Celtic. He said: 'He is keen to move on and the club is in discussion with another club so we have to wait and see what happens. I can't say who the clubs is. 'There have been a few clubs interested in him but I know for sure there has been one bid for him and I think maybe one or two other bids. 'He is a quality player but on the other hand he is keen to move on so the club needs to do something. 'He was away at the Olympics for a period of time but we will be sorry to see him go.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...talks-Celtic-Ki-Sung-Yueng.html#ixzz245Hz1MVU Looks like he is definitley for the off, if we can get £6m for him it will be a great bit of business.
Not wumming but seriously, he's a very average player imo, some might say FLOP for the racist Korean Gerrard. Oh and a big WELL DONE to Russ who hasn't mentioned Rangers in this post.
If he does go to Swansea for a big fee do you think the Red Tops will say it'a a New World Record for a transfer between Scottish and Welsh clubs?
You can tell he's a fantastic player, but one who probably needs to leave Celtic for a club playing good opposition week in week out, to realise his full potential. He seems to put in a fair few good performances when he plays for SK.
Take the £8m if he wants to go, he wouldn't necessarily be an automatic starter in my first 11 either.
i think he is decent but if anyone is offering in excess of 5 million then i think he has to go. seems bizarre that a guy who cannot command a regular place in our midfield could go for over 5 million. we need to use the cash and bring in a striker and defender asap.
To be honest Mick I dodn't think he would be a first pick in many people's 11. We bought him as an investment and it seems to be paying off.
He had a couple of decent matches playing for South Korea on English soil. That's enough to make him worth at least £8m
I may as well up the ante and just write nothing but stories about "The Rangers 2012" from now on. If it annoys you, BH, Trev and MD so much then i'm onto a good thing
dont want to see him go. We need players with technical ability, plus he's two footed. 6m is cheap, if charlie adam is 10m.
well lets see if we get 5.5 million or above.... i think he is a decent player - i dont think he suits the spl particularly though
