He's a good player yes but he does'nt have that 'instinct' that most top goalscorers have.

He gets in good positions, works hard, is great in the air, always commited but his goal return has been terrible throughout his whole career.

Unlike that Lazy fat Russian in our squad we always get 100% from Chamakh for that reason alone, I like him as a player.

    From BBC Sportsday live feed:

    FOOTBALL
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger plans to sign two more players before the transfer window closes.

"We are looking to bring one more midfielder in of course, and maybe one defender as well because we still feel we are short in some positions," he told Arsenal Player.

That's good to hear. If we get Sahin and a decent defender, then it will be a great transfer window (RVP debacle aside)

Maybe Vermaelen could be tried out as a classic DM if we get another CB? He's decent with the ball, and already has a tendency to leave his line.

I think Vermaelen is best as a CB, but I've always advocated that we should have 4 top quality CBs, so if we sign another, then we'd have two first choice and two equally as good for cover (they would all get games, there are 50+ in a season)

That said, I'd much rather see us go out and buy a dedicated DM

Bouldy should have nutted him?? If he had done that, Song would have given the bald headed old man a good hiding, I can guarantee you that! I know you are meant to respect your elders and all that......

Apparently Rennes are saying that M'Vila is on his way to the Spuds

Knew it was too good to be true. :( So now we have a DMF crisis.

    But...

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out signing Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila.

M'Vila, 22, has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham both said to be keen on his signature.

Should Rennes identify a replacement it has been suggested the club could let M'Vila leave the club for a fee in the region of £15 million.

Spurs, though, are out of the running for the France international's signature, after Villas-Boas outlined the club's intentions to sign a more forward-thinking midfielder.

He told L'Equipe: "He is an interesting player, but I don't think he will join Tottenham. He is a rather defensive player.

"We are looking for a more creative player. I won't lie. There was an interest from us in that player, but now we are looking at different options."

This is what I've been saying. Spurs right now need a creative midfielder as their main priority. It wouldn't make sense for them to go for M'Villa at this moment in time.

No he's a CM that dabbles in a bit of both, an Alonso like player. Which is why it's odd you're not after a more direct CDM replacement for Song

We will still get a DM. <ok> I would like to see Capoue as a replacement for Song, not as creative as M'vila and does not have the passing range but can defend solidly.

I still have a strong feeling he's coming to Arsenal. I don't see any other top clubs that right now need a DMF. Plus Arsene being French surely would help bring him to the club.

If this Sahin fella is coming, and Wenger already alluded to the fact the midfield area for us is congested, I really do not see him going for Mvilla. Diaby can be reigned in and made to play that role with Arteta and as someone already said, Sahin and Carzola could be the replacement for Nasri and Fabregas. Don't forget we still have lil Jack to come back.

Signing both Sahin and M'Vila would be over-kill.

We'd have a hell of a squad, yes but that would put all of; Diaby, Ramsey, Rosicky, Coquelin, Frimpong (when he's back) out of the squad. Some of those would barely make the bench with such a congested midfield.

Also, you couldn't have Wilshere, Cazorla, Sahin, Arteta and M'Vila all in the same team. But who would you get rid of? Arteta who was a stand-out performer last year? Wilshere, who is now our mascot? How will Jack get match fitness if he has so many ahead of him?

Precisely my point..... I think deep down every fan is listening to the little boy in them..... :D. Sign, sign sign. I think there are more important areas of the team that needs addressing.
