Relax lads, this is what want. They all want division in our camp. We can pick the bones out of the performance and we have, all that matters now is QPR.

Not trying to create a division here, just pointing out how ridiculous it is to make sweeping statements before a ball is even kicked, even worse to follow it up with a huge contradiction.

We accuse other fans of being arrogant when they make claims such as "we should be looking to beat Norwich away" so to say that "We should be looking to beat Fulham away" is every bit as arrogant, more so as no PL team had even kicked a ball in anger until 3pm yesterday.

The view is sound either way. With the players we have we certainly could have done something yesterday but it didn't happen. Fulham aren't man city but they aren't Ipswich either. Plus it's fulham, I thought palace were a bogey team but these guys take the biscuit

Jeez fella, I think you need to take Beefy's sage advice and relax, chill out man!

What you are calling "sweeping statements" are what are actually known as personal opinions and, dare I say it, predictions. Since when we're they outlawed on a debating forum? Pretty sure we're all allowed to make them, and whether they end up to be right or wrong we've all got a right to one - a bit like arseholes as the old joke goes<ok>
You're entitled to your opinion as well as I am, and it was the suggestion that anyone who didnt share the same one as you should, ahem, "shut the **** up!!!!" that got my goat. Entirely uncalled for and could be the kind of thing that makes you look a bit silly should things now not turn out so well over the course of the season. Just like Bolton when they, as you so correctly state, stuffed koo pee arr 4-0 at their place on the first game of their relegation campaign (don't know why I thought it was 5-0 Stoke, my bad <doh>).

And to be honest, the fact you are now suggesting Fulham are definitely safe from relegation and will finish in the top ten without question based on one single game against a team completely bereft of any creative invention or basic defensive nous rather stinks of these very "contradictions" that you are accusing me of.

Anyway, I've got no problem with you having an opinion and sharing it fella, it's why we love this forum so much so let's take the good man's advice and relax and all pull in the same direction before the only thing that now matters, which is of course next Saturday <cheers>

And I will stand by the statement "we should be looking to beat teams like Fulham away" absolutely 100%. At no point did I say it would ever be an easy win, that would be bonkers, however I was trying to highlight some potential weaknesses and I see no reason to why we shouldn't be looking to win it, it is was is called 'progress' my friend <cheers>

okay, I will apologies for the "shut the **** up" outburst but I hope you will take my point about pundits simply making wild guesses with little or no foundation and many fans seem to follow suit. That is not a personal attack on your viewpoint, rather an observation.

Fulham will be well safe from the threat of relegation and that is not just based on yesterdays performance. Their squad is stronger than last season and as I said before, at home they are formidable. They will get enough points at home to easily stay up, just as they did last season. Did you notice their away record last season? and they finished 9th!

No axe to grind with you or any other City fan on here and of course we are all entitled to opinions, I just tend to base my opinions on more than guesswork

It's a very emotive subject but we are actually coping quite well as a unit. QPR and Liverpool are in complete meltdown, at least we are being philosophical and trying to stay calm

Have to agree with the Liverpool state of affairs, resorting to calling each other spastics in some cases <yikes>

I can't really see the reason to worry. It was the first game, we should have been ready for it and quite simply we weren't and were appalling. There may other new signings, increased competiton for places etc etc. Let just see if the performances start (and hopefully the results) to happen over the next few games. if there is no sign of progress then I'll worry, but THERE WILL BE PROGRESS SO LETS ENJOY IT ALL

as far as i'm concerned, i'd much rather lose our first match of the season 5-0 and play ****e than lose our first match of the season 2-0 and play ****e. hope that makes sense but by getting humped people at the club can be in no doubt as to the issues we have. its not an easy job, that's for sure, but its not impossible either. we had games last year where we were truly dreadful - sunderland and blackburn away for two - these things happen when you are a relatively small club in a difficult league. we will probably be on the end of another hiding or two but its how we deal with it that matters. this is the premier league - its certainly not a walk in the park and all we should be focused on is getting behind the manager and our players and helping them improve and get safe. we aren't trying to win the league here - we need to be 17th or better - that is not unattainable based on one result <ok>

I'd rather have a kick up the arse early as well. It's our best chance at a rally. No player interviews yesterday, pissed some off but I'm hoping seige mentality and they were beating the crap out of eachother. That's how winnings done.

Not cool with this.

“We’re up against teams in this division that are technically better than us – and have better players than us. It’s the nature of the game,” added Hughton. “It was the same challenge last season and it will be the same challenge this. But we need to be better than we were today.”

I don't believe they are better. I believe that these players on top of their game are as good as the majority. And that's what they should strive for.

This is the first and only time I will compare Hughton with Lambert. Lambert wouldn't have even dreamed about saying some of the things Hughton has said since the full-time whistle on Saturday. He used to make our players feel ten feet tall, even in defeat.

Seriously guys, we did warn you that last year birminghams tactics were defensive and got shouted down. It seems to me that he is trying to install the same tactics with you. It won't work for you guys, look at southampton yesterday they gave it a bloody good go and nearly got something. And its crap about you needing more players, have you lost any really important players from last year? no, its just the mindset of the management.

I fear for you guys if you don't get anything from QPR.

I agree with that, playing defensively and rigid will not suit us, but at the same time I don't think Hughton is a mug and he will probably realise that and make a couple of changes. I genuinely think a couple of tweaks and we will be fine, defensive midfielder and maybe more attacking mentality and we should be back to normal. Fine margins.
