Just in case Belv doesn't post his excellent thread I have posted this one. Anybody wishing to give their views on the game to the Leicester Trust can do so here http://foxestrust.co.uk/1642/calling-charlton-fans I will post my team later. Prediction Addicks 2 Foxes 1 Kermit & Morrow (showing their former club what they are missing) AllHell
I'm more nervous about this game than Birmingham. One, because I expect Leicester to be in the top 3. Whether they secure automatic I'm not sure, but they will be around the top. Secondly, I just hope we don't play with any fear in our first home game of the season. There isn't anything to suggest this would be the case, but nerves are only natural in this scenario, it's down to CP and his staff to settle the side in the build up. A nervous start will be troublesome in this league, not like last year where the lack of quality allowed us to get away with it on occasions. Same team as Saturday. They handled what was thrown at them brilliantly and earned the right to start the next game. My concern is that there is a distinct lack of pace in the middle (and arguably up front too), so this is where the partnership on the right, and particularly the left will be vital. Wiggins and Solly need the freedom to move forward. Hollands and co need to be pushing up on the halfway line winning possession, rather than playing in and around their own box, in order for this to happen. Solly and Pritchard will have an especially tough game with Konch and Marshall wanting to get forward, so I foresee us focusing our play down the left. Expect Kermo to help out by drifting wide to create an almost 3 on 2 situation. My prediction is 2-2. I think it will be a much more open game than Saturday. I think there will be times we will be chasing the game, but think they will step up and battle to a point. ANything more and it will be a brilliant result.
I have a feeling Kermo is going to be targeted, so i hope the ref is not as soft on the opposition as the ref was against Orient
Looking forward to this after a summer of doom and gloom whether real or imagined. Saturday was a proper pick me up. Hard to predict because we don't really know what the standard is like though if I'm hazarding a guess I'd say Leicester will be quite good. If we have a go we will do ok I think. Can't see any changes to Saturdays team unless there are any knocks. I'd personally start with Green on the right as I think he potentially adds something at home that we just don't have and he has something to prove but that would be unfair on Pritch given his performance on Saturday. Maybe a substitution in the second half but before the 73d minute! Hope we get a good turn out and a rollicking good atmosphere. It's been a while since May!
One thing that really struck me looking at the Paper this morning was how low the attendences were in the Championship on Saturday - 18000 at Birmingham wasn't it? And how many of that was Us? I'm expecting 22 odd thousand tomorrow, a top atmosphere, and a game that you can script before hand - drmatic Charlton win with a Kermit goal and a Konchesky red. Either way I will be enthralled.
Managed to get out of working tomorrow night so can make the game, another performance like Saturday will do for me, not too concerned about the result at this early stage.
Its the Leicester fans that will target Kermo! Although your Manager is a hero here.Should be a good game but our record at your place is poor. Good luck for the season starting after tomorrow,I think you will do well.
I know it's apart of football, but I think Leicester fans targeting Kermo will do more harm than good. He'll be throwing his body around more than normal, eyeing up every free kick etc. But fortunately the chances of him replacing Jacko as our penalty taker are very slim Definitely a game I've been looking forward too - Leicester fans have been tremendous towards us since CP returned.
Sorry guys i've been really busy lately sorting out uni and that so haven't been able to get on here! I will get a Match thread up ASAP
Expecting a tough test tomorrow and I for one haven't a clue how its going to end up - We loved CP when he was at Leicester, but I know he has a bigger relationship with you guys. CP will go on to great things as a manager - No disrespect to either you or us, but I think he will go on to greater jobs, maybe even the England job. Obviously I hope we win, but good luck this season fellas
I do hope not, SuperC. I can see your point regarding the need for support out wide, but when I think of the chances Kermit would have buried on Saturday had he been in the box to receive them... Let BWP do the spade work and allow Kermit to mop up those tasty crosses. 2-1 Charlton, by the way.
No one will be under estimating you lot. Michael Morrison was well liked here. Chris Powell was loved here and he loved it here, many times he has publicly announced his admiration for Nigel Pearson. As for Yann, he will be getting alot of stick I wouldnt worry about him with Wes Morgan dealing with it as I think Morgan can more then handle him but even when Yann played for us you always felt he could pull something special off. And that will be the thing tommorow. Im expecting a tight game to be decided by the odd goal. I will go for 1-0 Leicester with Jamie Vardy getting the goal
You guys obviously had a great season last year - I have to admit I don't know what brand of football CP has got you playing, but if you are playing an open attacking game, we are more likely to find it easier to play against you - Peterborough came to the King Power last Saturday and parked the bus - They had no intent on attacking us, they came for a 0-0 draw and to be honest we struggled to break them down. If you play an open game against us I predict Leicester to win 1-2
Waaaah...I'm missing it! I may have mentioned this before once or twice in the past few days. Always good quality discussion and banter with The Foxes on not606 and I'm convinced it's going to be a belter tomorrow night with the game played flat out and whatever the score, there's going to be very little in it at the end. The duel between Beckford and Morrison should be classic. Slightly worried about what the game against Orient has taken out of the side - I know that eddie hinted at this after the Birmingham game and certainly Hollands looked out on his feet, but if we play tomorrow night like we did on Saturday and Dr. Chris gets the substitutions right, we can win it. Danger Fox - love your signature - I think some of those who were giving Darren Ambrose dog's abuse on Saturday might benefit from reflecting on those words. And these, possibly..."If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink. Doing this will be like pouring burning coals on his head."
I fancy Leicester to be a tougher proposition than Birmingham - even tougher, I mean. With the money they've spent they should ruddy well be near the top come May. Foxes fans - how does Jamie Vardy look?
Vardy has looked decent so far. From time to time he thinks he has got longer then he actually has but that will take time while he adjusts to the league. So far he has kept David Nugent out of the team. One to watch for you tommorow is Ben Marshall. If you give him a shooting opportunity dont be surprised if it ends up in the top corner. Anthony Knockaert is full of tricks aswell
Went on the Leicester forum. Was surprised to see they have some sort of rivalry with Hull. I guess they probably would find it strange how much people on CL talk about Sheffield Wednesday (a2c started that 'rivalry' I think). Reckon Leicester will finish a few spots above Birmingham, so this is a tough test. Both sides seem to be planning on counter-attacking, so maybe not as open as others expect. Will be interesting to see how CP fares at home in this division. There won't be many 'Oldhams' parking the bus, but that also brings the risk of losing more at home. "Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons."
