The cult needs to be postponed until he can learn to pass to a team-mate. It's one thing making a crunching tackle to stop the opposition's progress down the pitch, and well done to the lad for numerous instances of that on Saturday, but that tackle becomes a mere delaying tactic when the first thing you do on the ball is not look up, listen for the shouts from white-shirted players around you or try to retain possession, but aimlessly clog it into orbit. If those were Warnock's instructions, they weren't heeded as strictly by any other player to my memory. We know that passing is the real weakness in his game - his lack of assists in his career will tell you that - but is it really so hard to play the square ball to David Norris? He for one appeared to be willing to try open up the Wolves defence with a few through-balls. It's a shame we're relying on him as a playmaker, but I suppose someone has to step up since we've sold our creative players and failed to replace them, regardless of how one would apportion the blame for that. Will he be the man to set up 10+ goals this season and give McCormack and Becchio the service they need? This guy can become LUFC incarnate, but he has to stop ****ting his kecks as soon as it looks like he may have to use his brain after charging into a tackle and winning the ball. Come on Rudi!
I think that's may be a bit of a harsh assessment there Jerel, he's no Iniesta in the passing department but I didn't think he did that bad! He's more defensive minded, in that he'd rather clear it than risk losing it in a threatening area, but I also though he kncoked a few decent balls around too. I'm not saying that's it's not an area he can improve on but I don't think it neccessarily needs any criticism drawn... he's come in to do a particular job and he did it very well imo!
I agree but I much rather have him in Centre Mid than Kilkenny who could pass but riled me with the lack of effort!
The inability to pass accurately (the first basic skill of football) is something that really gets my goat, but I didn't notice it as a particualr failing. I will look out for it in future.
