Bosingwa coming in will free Onuoha to move to centre of defence at Hill's expense? Only change?

Is there a change to our midfield that you would suggest in order to offer better protection to our defence?

could play Bosingwa, Onuoha, Ferdinand, Traore
could even think of playing Connolly in the middle if he has improved as much as we hear

    Or change the lot
    Bosingwa, Nelson, Connolly, Traore

How did Fabio play? I presume he will be given a run of games with Traore on the sidelines ready to step in if necessary.

I would chuck out Ferdinand and bring Onouha into the centre, with Bosingwa on the outside. Sadly, we would lose Onouha's positive forward play. How is Bosingwa with that?

I'd still like to see Fabio have another chance but he can't have infinite chances, like Ferdinand seems to have.

He was not very good at all as a left back, because the only defending he did was when he was last man when we were taking corners. His error in this position led to 3rd (or 4th,I lost count) goal. He spent 90% of the game running forward. Some decent link up play with Hoilett and Adel first half, but overall very little product, partly because he has no left foot so has to check back all the time. Hugely disappointing, I don't rate Traore as much of a defender but on this evidence better and more disciplined than Fabio and much more dangerous going forward.

But it's only one game, hopefully Ferguson hasn't sold us another pup in revenge for our last 5 minutes against Citeh.

    I miss Taiwo.

I think the main problem is setting up the midfield correctly, with Hoilett, Taraabt and Mackie all tending to drift wide we were cut to ribbons down the middle, you can play who you like at the back but if they're exposed the way we were on Saturday we'll get another thrashing...

Interesting point. What midfield and formation would you suggest?

So not only do we have attack minded midfielders who can't defend we also have a load of attack minded defenders who can't defend?

Might as well play rush goalies too fwiw!

It is a tough call because if we bring Derry in to strengthen in the middle we may lose our width
Or we will have to play just one up front again which did not work on Saturday

I would make some changes to the defence, definitely bring in Bosingwa for Fabio. I would also drop Mackie and have Derry to come in to sit alongside Diakite in front of the defence and push Ji Sung out to the right. This of course is not the permanent solution. We have been saying all summer we need probably 2 CB's and 1 DCM and Saturday emphatically proved this.
Cisse had a shocker as did Adel and the way we play up front needs serious looking at also. All in all a very depressing match with Hoilett being the only shining light.

    4-4-2.

    Traore Nelson Ferdinand Boswinga
    Park Diakate Dyer/Derry Hoilett
    Zamora Cisse

Only room for one Tarrabt / Hoilett away from home. And at home by the looks of Saturday.

I thought he did well in the first half especially going forward as he really did not have to much to do defensively and was a little lost in the 2nd half just like the rest of the team.

He has taken a lot of stick on here for going forward too much but he may have been asked to do this by MH after all his tactics were completely wrong for this game.

    I would go with;

    Bosingwa, Onuoha(maybe Nelsen), Ferdinand, Fabio

    Park, Diakate, Derry, Hoilett

    Taarabt

    Zamora

Zamora will be able to bring Adel and hoilett into the attack better than cisse did who was very poor on saturday

I would bring in Cerny have Bosingwa RB Onouha Nelson Ehmer LB Park Diakite Hoillett Cisse Taarabt SWP. (Mackie Zamora Johnson impact subs) Taarabt and Mackie need to brush up their skills they were easy meat for Swansea and Green needs to get away to clear his head of all negativeties otherwise he could lose the plot. Ferdinand and Hill can warm the bench we need a strong team that wont capitulate again which means we need to bring in two more quality players a CB and a quality striker and maybe after ten matches or so they can galvanise and show real intent but will MH still be there by then?

Agree, I think the whole middle of the team needs a re-think with Zamora, Derry, Nelson to come in.
