Worst total points tally last year worst opening day defeat this year. Our next league match is against the champion Manchester City.It is not yet a disaster, but it is necessary to get sometihing from our next game.I am sure the manager is not happy about the result against WBA,we need to give him our support so that he can turn things round.
Hi agree that we must be patient with the time we give Rodgers, its still incredibly early both in the season and his contract. I don't agree we NEED anything from the City game but we do need to improve and show that we at least look like we will progress. One things for sure though anything from the game would help take the pressure off because with the next few games it could define our season.
I can see us being stronger at home. But we of course must remember this is City. We can take them down.
Honestly... we will more than likely lose to City... it may not even be pretty. It will stink but it is reality. We've got a lot of improving to do. I'm optimistic we will improve- but not before the City game. We do have home-pitch advantage... we also have the fact that we always step up a gear against the big teams... but I wouldn't count on that being enough. So... what does that mean... ... well... it means we will drop three points against a team that most other teams will drop three points against. It will take a while for Rodgers to transform how we play- and for the players to take that transformation and be good. City game is too soon to expect miracles.
We don't NEED **** all from City. A win or a draw at the very least against Arsenal will be much more important to our season than a defeat against the Champions who are miles ahead of us and not in any sort of competition with us. What will define our season will be results against the lower teams at home that we couldn't beat last season and our results against Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle will be fighting for 4th-7th with us this year.
You just cannot pick matches and classify as "must win" and "ok to lose" . This s the wrong mentality. I agree with the OP. the next match and every match at Anfield we must approach as must win or at the very least not lose. Yes we are talking about City. If Barcelona can be conquered I cannot see why we should be afraid of city. The saints showed that they are human. Let's make sure we return to the old attitude of trying to win every game.
Ah I get It your allowed on the Everton board but no ones allowed on your board....I got It now sorry !!
Like your match yesterday lol...I am sure there will be plenty going on there tommorow particularly from the Liverwums If Utd win....But as I have said earlier If Its off Liverpool fans Its Banter If not Its Bitter....
Judging by previous seasons, we are more likely to beat Man City than we were to beat WBA. However, in previous seasons we have recognised that aren't the better side against Man City and set up accordingly, under Rodgers, quite simply, we won't. We will try to play football which IMO will be suicide
The only MUST against City is that we perform. We've got the first game out of the way and we'll have had the Hearts game to stretch the legs of some 'possibles'. Let's start looking forwards again. What we want to see is performance that we can be proud of. Forget the pundits and the wums. Anfield is our midden and we expect whatever side the manager selects to fight for it.
