Gonna be interesting to see how they play together this season. I don't like Man U, but it will be fascinating to watch RVP from the perspective of another team.
Podolski is fully fit yet and Giroud will take a little while to adjust to the pace of the English game. Both the strikers we signed are good- perhaps not quite RVP quality but they certainly have the potential to get their. Then consider Crazorla and the return of Wilshere should add a considerable amount of creativity compared to last Season. If we replace Song and add Sahin I think we can challenge.
@UIR - Kagawa Power Yes RVP was the best player in our squad last season. And yes he is now your best striker. I feel sorry for him going to a club where the fans rate Rooney and Valencia as better players. RVP is THE best striker in the league and better than anyone you have at Utd. As for Kagawa walking straight into our team - not so sure about that buddy. As the creative spark in midfield he would be cometing with Cazorla, Wilshere, Rosicky and Sahin for a spot in the team. (Thats not to mention, Arteta, Diaby, Ramsey etc...). This is one area we clearly have alot more deth than Utd in. Kagawa is the ONLY creative player you have for the middle of the park. @Shwan Although imo RVP is the best signing of the Transfer Window he is still only one signing and it's not often the ress decide a team are favourites due to one signing - they usually jump on the bandwagon of whoever is making a handful of quality signings (in the recent past City and Chelsea spring to mind). Which is why my comment that had anyone else signed the collection of players we had they would be crowned favourites by the press.
No, we have signed better players than you overall as I said, when you stack them all together IN TOTAL, our signings are much better than the ones you have made, so give it a rest. As for RVP, he was the best striker at our club, not better than everyone at the club, for example, Vermaelen and Koscielny are top class players, same as Arteta etc, each in their own position and their line of work. As for Kagawa walking into our team, I think not, we'd rather have Cazorla as our attacking midfielder thank you very much. You ask 9 out of 10 people whom they rate more and think has much more potential for the season, and the answer will be Cazorla all the way. Even Wilshere is a better player than Kagawa, yeah, did you forget about Wilshere? He will be back soon, and you ****ers at United wish you could have a midfielder like him, but he's one player that would never go to you ****s because he's Arsenal through and through, born and bred in the Arsenal academy. Cazorla+Wilshere a much better looking attacking midfield prospect than your attacking midfielders.
Lol so are you saying RVP ranked behind Vermaelen, Koscielny and Arteta at Arsenal. Is this a long standing opinion? I believe Kagawa was a target of Arsenals and I am sure Wenger stated it was bad news for Arsenal that United had signed him. The video has been taken off youtube but I shall see if I can find another link to it You have signed some decent players though.
I think it depends on how you judge "better". Rooney is more important to the Manchester United, most of our attacks directly involve him being our creative focal point in the center of the pitch. It's a matter of opinion on who is actually the better player between RVP and Rooney. You'll all say RVP is a better player, and us United fan's will say Rooney is a better player. As a fact, Rooney is more important to our team than RVP will be. When/If your new signings become accustomed to the premier league you'll have a pretty good team.
I think Arsenal, once they get the loan move completed and their new striker scoring, will probably be better for Van Persie leaving. Defo agree with Man City guy on the radio, Van Persie wreaks a bit of desperation. He's a great player, no doubt, but everything added cumulatively all in all, and Arsenal have got a great deal. Man Utd put no fear into us when they came up to ours, and we humped them. Our CM are better than theirs, hence the need to bring Scholes back. Disappointed they haven't got more in with regards this department, because Citeh will own them in the league title race if things stay as they are. Also, desperate attempts to call Rooney "world class" should die every time he puts on an England top. "World class" for me means he'd make the best 11 in the world. He wouldn't objectively speaking under any circumstances. He's good, got one of the greatest work ethics (on the pitch) I've ever seen, his engine is good, and he's one of England's better technically-able players, but measured against many of the true "world class" players, he's not the great legend every Man Utd and media fanboy make him out to be, and no amount of tap-ins provided by excellent wingers will prove otherwise. Still like him though. Personally I think Van Persie will need time to get going, because Song and him often appeared on the same wavelength. Is Kagawa going to be potent enough to step up to the creative plate? It'll be interesting to see what happens!
Messi is generally poor in an Argentina shirt, does that make him not world class? Landon Donavon generally plays really really well in a USA shirt, does that make him world class?
He is not poor in an Argentina shirt. That is a gross exaggeration. Yes, he is not as good as when he is playing for Barca but he still puts in class performances for his country. He has to do more of the build up play for his country and he does it well. In the past year or two, he has started to show his Barca form when playing for his country. Rooney on the other hand has been utter **** when playing for his country. Even basic things like his first touch goes out of the window when he puts on that England shirt for some reason.
So what if he moved for money? He is nearly 30 and didnt want to spend the last years of his career on a relatively low wage whilst his peers raked it in at big spending clubs like Chelsea, City and Utd. Its a no brainer for any man who is thinking of his career and his retirement, which will probably be in about 5 years or less.
@Bodanki The point isn't that it's wrong to move for money but rather, if thats why your moving just say it - don't come u with all kinds of bullshit.
RVP is the better player, no doubt in my mind. Not only can he score plenty of spectacular goals, but he is also very creative and technically brilliant. He was the dutch player amongst all there talent who was ear-marked to do great things but injury have stopped him quite getting there. If he remains injury free (big IF) then i have no doubt he will prove himself one of the best in the world to any doubters. Rooney is good but RVP is better. As for Messi playing crap for Argentina - what a load of rubbish. This is media nonsense. Anyone who has watched him play for Argentina will see he still plays very well for them. He was involved in the build-up to every single Argentina goal at the World Cup, hit the post a coule of times and went close several other times. He hasn't been quite as lethal infront of goal for his country but he plays a more creative role. Messi is the 6th youngest player to ever score at a World Cup (getting a goal and assist in his first World Cup appearance), he went on to score another and have a 3rd disalllowed during the WC - 2006 Messi helps Argentina progress to the final of the Copa America. In the three group games he assists in two of them (including for the winner against Paraguay) and in the third wins a penalty and free-kick which areb oth scored from. He then scored in both the QF and SF before Argentina lost to Brazil in the final - 2007 Messi wins an Olympic Gold Medal in Men's Football with Argentina (scoring and assisting important goals including winners over Netherlands and Nigeria) - 2008 Messi is involved in every single goal scored by Argentina at the World Cup reaching the QF (nominated in top 10 layers for Golden Ball by Fifa Technical Study Group - 2010 Messi makes 3 assists and 3 man of the match performances as well as scoring his penalty in the Penalty shoot-out QF loss to Uruguay - 2011 Age: Just turned 25 International Apps: 71 Goals: 27 Assists: 21 (These goals/assists stats do not include his Olympic goals/assists[2 goals] or youth goals/assists[14 goals]) Hopefully that dispells any silly illusions that Messi can't perform for his country. He will finish his career with a massive amount of goals/assists for his club AND country and there is still lenty of time for him to help Argentina to a trohpy or two.
I suppose he should just earn 50% less than he could because of fan sentiment? People forget, we love these teams, its a way of life for us, for them its a job. And for the record, a player will never come out and say its because of money because he would get slaughtered by fans, but both you and I know thats the case, so why bother arguing because of it.
Excellent post! Comparing Messi and Wayne Rooney is something only a Man Utd fan or ITV commentator would do. Messi is a footballing genius, and the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Xavi and Iniesta are in or are closest to that same bracket. Wayne Rooney, whilst a good player, isn't worth mentioning in the same sentence in my opinion, unless it's a discussion about how hype works in football... It's like some of our fans comparing Ben Arfa to Messi, only we do it tongue in cheek...
Rooney is one of the most overhyped players around. He is a great player, no question, but not anywhere close to the Messis of the world. As mentioned above ITV and Sky commentators + English tabloids and whoever is responsible in marketing Wayne Rooney are the causes why Shrek is permanently put into the same bracket as Messi, Ronaldo and seen as some saviour of the nation. van Persie is the more complete striker, no doubt about that. Rooney's goal scoring record from last season wouldn't look that great if you take away the penalties they were gifted courtesy of a number of Ashley Young dives.
