Sunderland are in talks with City over £10m move for Adam Johnson. Come on Liverpool, get with it ffs. This is so frustrating when we see players that we obviously need going for quite low amounts to other clubs while we spend a **** load on players like downing. I know we haven't this season, but still like £11m on borini and I think Johnson is better than him.

We signed Assaidi, so I think we ran rule out Johnson.

Alex, take a chill pill fella! Yes I know it was a bad result, but this is the morning after. You are going to have to put a little bit of faith in Rodgers. You can't start throwing the baby out with the bathwater based on one result where Phil "fat ****" Dowd royally screwed us over.

You're going to have to find a way of keeping your big girly emotions in check, after we loose a match, try getting a dildo from Anne Summers to indulge your lady garden! <whistle>

Aha the heat is killing me mate. It is annoying though, as Johnson is just what we need along with a goal scorer.

That's the trap we all fall into....well I don't as I'm a friggin' god... but "knowing" that Johnson can do this, that, and the other, does not mean he is what Rodger's is looking for. I agree, I too would like to see Johnson at Anfield, but if he goes elsewhere, I expect, that like Gaston and Dempsey, he is not what Rodgers wants. I never consider that someone would actually beat us to the drop, especially Sunderland. If he goes there, we just have to believe that the boss wants something else, but he better bloody get it soon <grr>

Spot on. This is whats worrying though, there is only 11 days or so left in the window, and as we all know from past windows (Cough Andy Carroll) that if you wait till right at the end you're going to pay twice as much as you could've at the start or in the middle of the window. I hope we don't spend crazy amounts at the end of the window on players that aren't as good as players that are half the price.

Have to agree with the OP.

Johnson would be a great buy.

Johnson would be a huge upgrade from Downing, even to get him on loan would be great.

It would but I can see him slipping through our fingers.

God I hope Downing and Adam leave soon.

    They stink of average.

Where are these Johnson/Sunderland rumours coming from anyway?

    One of the papers?

We'll do more business before the window closes, and i don't think we should start
making sweeping assumptions (i.e. where we might finish in the league) until we
have played 12 or 15 games minimum.

Johnson is quite good but he's not incredible. Looks good on MOTD for sure.

I'd still have him here though.

Wait till you see Assaidi first, he might turn out to be as good or better!! He plays in the same position.

I dont really think Johnson would definately improve us.

I don't know... I would have to stop watching Liverpool on the telly if we signed Adam Johnson... We have Glen. I make it a rule... no TV where there are two Johnsons on display at the same time.

We have no money left so we can only bring loans in now unless we sell players but the ones we want to sell, dont want to leave so where a bit stuck.

People need to get this into their heads and not wind themselves up by expecting signings of £10m+ when we just don't have the money without selling first, and FSG won't give Rodgers any of their money to spend.

People will dismiss this and keep coming up with targets and rumours on Twitter etc, but I'm telling you, if we do not sell a player or two, all we can do is bring in loans.

Tello would of been a loan, Johnson approach is a loan, and Sahin was going to be a loan.

Were skint after buying Allen for £15m and Borini (who is not good enough) for £11m.

How do we know? How do you know? All I know is that Rodgers 48 hours ago said we'd hopefully be getting some signings in the next 48 hours. That shows either he was looking at close to being done deals, or he was lying.
I don't think he'd lie this early in his career, so perhaps there were some signings lined up. Not all were possible loans - we didn't expect to buy Assaidi but we did, for cheap.

As for Johnson, I'm really not convinced he'd help us... Downing has pace, proven crosser, etc. and he's awful. Johnson is like a Downing 2.0, albeit a small upgrade. He's 25 <yikes>, a year younger than Charlie Adam. I know the BBC and everyone used to cream themselves over mention of his name but looking at his career it's very sad to see someone with so little desire to succeed. His learning and improvement stalled 2 years ago, since then he's been happy to play off the bench.

We need a striker, a finisher. He doesn't even need to be technical, as long as he's the type that could score if the ball hit him square in the nose. As for that winger role, Assaidi has to be at least better than Downing and Sterling must be feeling great - he's just moved closer to some appearances.

Oh, and Borini, not good enough? Well why didn't you ring up Rodgers and say something before we signed him? Could have saved us a fortune.

Wait and see by the end of the window.

Then you can have a go at me being wrong. But from what I know, and its been backed up by Tony Barrett and Rory Smith, we have no money left to spend unless we sell players hence why the last 3 players we have went for were loans.

The only way we will get money now is if we sell or if yesterday was such an eye opener it panics FSG into loosening the purse strings but I don't think that will happen.

Johnson would have been a good buy two/three years ago, now he's overrated and not worth our trouble, - he's been content to waste away his career on city's bench. His chance to become great has been and gone
