Morning! Just read the Chelsea v Wigan report on the BBC site. In the report it said Hazard had an impressive game which involved a good pass for Ivanovic to score (fair enough) and then he was felled to win Chelsea penalty. Later in the report it also says Hazard was rewarded with a penalty. That's appalling. Since when does it make you a good player to win a penalty. Forget about the issue of diving (from what I have read it was a certain penalty). Also, why is a penalty for being fouled a reward?
If it's a clear cut chance and the fouled player has totally beaten the player committing the foul then I think it should be given some credit at least, because 8/10 times it's usually a goal.
I'll never forget when we played Chelsea last year and they got the penalty off us. I remember being so pissed off that day, apart from holtys goal, and coming home to watch match of the day and to see ruddy give the penalty I was like "fair enough" but you could see behind the goal there were two chelsea fans, hugging eachother, practically crying with joy, jumping up and down that Chelsea had won a penalty. I think some fans, especially those at big clubs, love "winning a penalty" winning by scoring a legitimate goal isn't enough. Frankly, my reaction at Norwich getting a penalty is usually shock. I want to ask the referee if he's sure about it. But I'll never forget that imagery. They celebrated like they'd won the champions league when they'd won a penalty against Norwich. It was shocking.
It wasn't the decision, it's how it was celebrated. I agree it was a pen and stated that in my original post. <Derp>
Example, would you have celebrated, like you've just shagged Cheryl cole after England have win the world cup, if you'd got a penalty yesterday against Birmingham, because that's how these guys went off. I felt so bad for them, they could never appreciate true football
Ipswich played Blackburn yesterday! Apart from that I'm with you 100%, it's unlike welly to be so far off the mark!
Sorry chuckles, I was talking to a charlton fan earlier, I don't pay that much attention to the lower league fixtures: who did you play, Yeovil?
