We must be watching two different games. Wigan are dominating despite the poor start.

Wigan were sloppy twice and duly punished. Other than that, Chelsea have just sat back.

Wigan don't normally turn up until March. They make everton look like fast starters.

Disappointed that Ryo did not even make the bench. Was looking forward to possibly watching him play today.

I would call Di Santo the white Heskey but that would be an insult to Heskey. <doh>

Nice. This will definitely soften the blow of losing Song if this is 100% true. Wenger did say last evening after the Sunderland game that we might bring someone in to replace him. This season is looking up. <ok>

The crazy thing is, is that an Arteta, Sahin and Cazorla midfield would be better than a Song, Wilshere, Fabregas midfield.

I never thought I'd see something like this last year.

    Sahin---Cazorla---Arteta

That would out-pass any midfield probably... and even rival Barca.

Do Sahin and Arteta give our defense enough protection though?

Nothing to do with us but Kaka is going to Man Utd? Maybe we should bid for him?

I assume you don;t watch too much foreign football? When Sahin was at Dortmund, he was looking like being the next big thing, he was arguably the best player in germany. Real wouldn't have bought him if he wasn't top drawer.

He was named player of the year in Germany in 2011. I'll trust their judgement more.

Check out some of Sahin's stats at Dortmund in 10-11, in comparison with Song in 11-12:

(all 'per game', apart from the obvious)

    Passes ---------- Sahin 59.3-66.1 Song
    Completed ------ Sahin 75.9-84.3 Song
Key Passes ------- Sahin 3.5-1.4 Song
    Tackles ----------- Sahin 3.7-2.9 Song
Yellow cards --------- Sahin 4-10 Song
    MOMs ---------------- Sahin 7-1 Song
    Shots --------------- Sahin 2-0.4 Song
    Interceptions ------ Sahin 2.3-1.9 Song
    Dribbles ----------- Sahin 2.3-0.7 Song
Accurate long balls - Sahin 5.5-3.3 Song
Completed crosses - Sahin 2.6-0.1 Song

It doesn't tell the full story of course, but it's still nice to see that Sahin beats Song in many areas. Sahin had more key passes per game in 2010-11 than any other top league player last year - 0.1 ahead of Pirlo.

For all those that slag off Wenger, look at the way he progressed this deal with Sahin. Phoned him the other day and spoke to him in German and now the guy is close to signing for us. Wenger gets it done. <ok>
