    Bidley and Captain ...

Bulldog turned out well, thanks. Didn't need the Wellies. It only started raining about 5 minutes before we were packed up to leave. Harmonica player Dave Turner from Bad Manners, the headline group, walked up and introduced himself. He wanted a picture with me in front of the Tribe tent, if you can imagine that. He hung around for an hour talking to me and others. Bad Manners was good, as was most of the "main" stage groups, but 80 meters from my tent was the other stage, which featured an endless parade of what I can only guess were bands willing to play for free. They'd be on for 40 minutes, then clear off and another band would come up and play in front of the 100 or so fans dozing in the grass. A few groups were quite good, but most average to forgettable. One band featured an old bearded lead singer, consistantly a semi-tone sharp, screaming F&$@ Y%$ at everyone. I'm guessing these bands made the trip so they could put "we played Bulldog Bash" on their musical CVs. All and all, a fun trip. Nice to see England again.

Ah, harmonica players. We're the salt of the Earth, DR, every last one of us. Glad you had a good time. Shame you couldn't have hung around in England for an extra week and taken in the Norwich game as well.

Here's a picture that warms the heart, taken a couple days ago according to the tweet.

I wonder what McBride's advice was on this contract business.

Posting here as wums might not wander in. I've decided, reluctantly, to use the ignore function on any regular wums that turn up, and did so on the two most recent ones this morning. That's actually less effective than I had thought, as the board still shows me that they have posted but without lettin me see what they've said. I suppose it also does nothing to stop them derailing interesting threads. In other words, ignoring them doesn't enable me to act as if they're not there, which was what I hoped. Any ideas on how we best counter the hooped menaces (other than thrashing them again, which we can't take for granted)?

Reluctantly, i think ignoring them is the only option. Unless things have changed since last year (when I inquired with the administrators of the board about this issue) there's no way to simply ban them from using our board. And speaking as a programmer, I can't imagine there's blanket criteria that would allow us to keep them out (i.e. If (Fan==QPR) {Fulhman.board.access=false}). And even if banning them one at a time were possible, these subliterate morons would certainly find a work around since they don't have jobs or girlfriends.

I'll have to try that ignore function ...

Sadly our first game isn't until 15th Dec, after which I expect it go quiet.

The primary technique appears to be baiting and then responding to any bite with 'that's rubbish banter' - it's not just unique to our visiting friendos, it's common to almost all wums across these boards.

The newest arrival, shefford, likes to reference season ticket holders in every post; he reminds me of a guy at work who saw me with a coffee cup on two concurrent days and now asks me, without fail, how is my coffee is, regardless of whether I've got a cup in hand. To him it's a great laugh, and not meant with any malice (I don't think) but it is the classic trait of a moron.

I think it's the euphoria of having stumbled across something vaguely witty or with an element of truth that overwhelms them, they can't actually control themselves from mentioning it at every opportunity. It may also just be re-inforcing technique, like when a small child repeats a word over and over- for somebody so unused to fielding an original and informed opinion (generally because they lack the capacity to do so) the repetition of something they believe to be factual/witty cements the belief they are actually an intelligent/humourous person.

PS. Just realised today is my 1st birthday on 606 :emoticon-0169-dance

From mooching around the Sunderland board (looking for Fantasy football insight) I gather that Syd has left now to set up a Sunderland-only board. This means I don't even know who we have to refer to if we want to get an individual banned.

It is possible to get an individual banned from our board, but we need to get someone else to do it. Now that Syd has gone (cheers for that info, Captain) things are a bit muddier. The suggestion I posted on the other thread (which again, seemed to scare them off) was; come to a "gentlemen's agreement" to keep all "banter" to one single thread, so we can all bitch at eachother in one place and not keep ruining perfectly good threads. If any of the QPR wums break this agreement, we request a ban.

Like the Captain says, I've had NORT on ignore for a good while now and it's pretty useless, although it does reduce the temptation to engage him greatly, and I've not read anything he's posted for a long time. It's only useful if we all ignore them, which doesn't happen.

Sensible Suggestion - I'll also add them to the Ignore List.

Going back to alcohol earlier in this thread, I'm enjoying a Sam Adams Boston Lager for the first time in years!

    3 points tomorrow - C O Y W (Sorry that's football-related)

You could have linked the two GeraScores by making it 3 pints tomorrow as well.

But according to their owner there are plenty of positives to take from the game? For example, he thinks they dominated the first half <laugh>

I think he's the only one, they genuinely seem to all feel like a bunch of morons after giving it the big'un all Summer on every team's board.

Just to follow up, I've been reading some of the threads on the QPR board, and the amount of comments on how apparently we're "obsessed" with them (despite a contingent of them camped on our board) and they're on the way up and we're on the way down... They don't do themselves any favours. Arrogant scum.

ELLERS even piped up and said how we supposedly "went silent" when he brought up away support statistics, when he knows full well that backfired and he got made to look an idiot. The very definition of delusional!

Honestly, I wouldn't have a problem with QPR, couple of my good mates are Rs fans, but the fanbase on Not606 makes them utterly repulsive.

    Rant over.

They actually had visions of a top six finish this season <laugh>

Getting a home game for the opening day of the season against a side that went up the season before and have a new manager yet to implement his tactics and vision on the team who have just lost two of their best players in Sigurdsson and Allen (Sinclair unsettled too) was a DREAM fixture for them.

    Oh ****ing dear <laugh>

"Two clubs heading in opposite directions" they said.

The PL table certainly says so.

Is it possible to be off topic in the thead for off-topicness? I'm changing the subject anyhow. Those who discussed Richard Thompson when we were talking about music earlier this summer might be interested to know I'm seeing him play tonight - solo acoustic show at the Brook in Southampton, an intimate 600 capacity venue (converted pub). The first time I've seen him solo in such a small venue (he played the Brook with his band three or four years ago). I'm looking forward to it immensely.
