I am still very optimistic even waking early following a real nightmare. I saw enough yesterday albeit in very small amounts that we are going to be a good team this year. Best mate is Arsenal and he was very low yesterday as their team implodes and they were contained by Sunderland at home. Then you have AVB who says that Spurs are already a better team than Newcastle! Liverpool miss enough chances to be well ahead and looked awful at the back and then lose and that could of been 5-0 easily . Fulham were thought to be in crisis without Clint yet cruised to a victory and made Norwich look very poor as if they hadn't trained at all. Villa with PL looked equally poor and West Ham looked very average Reading Stoke looked like a championship game It's a funny game now and everyone wants success. We have some good reasons to be optimistic and I think calling for blood at the first hurdle is really really blind and stupid. We got caught out badly yesterday but having gone down to a goal at home we had to press forward and were undone by some beautiful counter attacking play in the second half When games get like this they aren't true reflections of a season and with a better slice of luck even yesterday's game could of ended 7-3... Tell me that's going to happen every week? The Arsenal lost 8-2 last year and are now playing in the champions league. I still think we will finish very high. I also think we will serve up a few pastings ourselves this season It's a freak show so enjoy it
I am completely optimistic that we will not be in a relegation scrap. The first games of the season are not even over yet and poor old Soton may be bottom on Monday! (Sorry Soton, don't wish you ill but). The positives are plenty: Hoillett -very lively, Park solid, Fabio better than prev, first half we played better than they did and did not get that famous luck, some really nice interplay, midfield strong as expected. The challenges are not few: Green - jury out as too early but first goal should have been saved, defence, the team gelling together etc. Also, I would have liked to see Park marshalling the troops. Don't think I saw him communicate with anyone else at all.
No, because we don't have 5-6 new players coming in the plug the gaps. It could be this lot that get us through and if they keep this up, we're f***ed. Our entire pre season just went out the window. A coherent team that listens to their manager doesn't get spanked 5 zip at home full stop. We might still do ok but it certainly won't be as enjoyable as I first thought. With our squad, our setup, results like this should have been a thing of the past. Sadly, they are not. Unless I see otherwise, we could be in for a long season. If we lose at CR I'll even go as far to say we'll be right in the relegation mix again. I'm not calling for anyone's head but this s*ck it up and see approach is killing me.
5/6 players? Plug the gaps? All based on one game where we over committed to getting a goal or two back? First half by far the better team and had more chances ... Yes the swans had chances too and we went in one down did I think we were out of the game ... Did anyone? Be honest we all thought we would turn this around easily at the time? A brilliant second goal on the break killed us but I still thought we would come back ... The team then tried to press ... You have to its that simple and we were picked off very easily. I prefer to give credit to the swans as they were outstanding at the back and were spot on with their tactics Yet ... On here we still choose to slag off our own team ... disgraceful IMO
Well spoken that man. Another point, often made by the Swans about themselves, is that they are constantly underrated which they seem very happy with. My perception (and I may be wrong)is that great things are expected of QPR - . Hence when they lose, that is expected. When we lose it turns into the big circus.
Losing 1-0 is one thing. Losing 5-0 at home with the side we have is another. There is no way any of us can react the same way and shake it off as just another loss. I just hope the players or manager don't have the same 'we'll be right' attitude. I am not calling for MH to be sacked nor am I singling out any player. All I'm saying is it was a disgraceful performance and unfortunately in football, a performance like that will attract disgraceful comments like mine. The negative reactions tell me that the result hurt and fans really do care.
Oslo, your post is an over reaction in the extreme, yes we lost a game, not a good scoreline but we'll get over it and be stronger for it. I don't agree that Hoilett is the only player that has improved the squad, all of the signings have Premier league pedigree. Personally, the only one I wouldn't have signed is Johnson, bit that's my opinion. And quite why Rob Green has become the focal point for fans displeasure, I don't know. Yes, I'm still optimistic, I believe the lowest we will finish is 12th. Keep calm & keep the faith, remember we do nothing the easy way!
I'm still as optimistic as I was before yesterday that we will stay up and finish between 15th and 17th. Gutted to lose to Swansea though, apart from Millwall there's no team I hate more in all the leagues, not even the Scum. It's not just about the players it's also about the manager. Would a Barcelona or Real still finish in the top two of the Liga if managed by Hughes?
"Anyone still Optimistic?" ======================== Haven't got time, to read the thread, but anyone who isn't is mad. Look on it as a blessing in disguise.
No over reaction. It's time for us and in particular MH to get real and fix our blatantly obvious defensive weaknesses. If this wakes him up then yesterday may be a blessing in disguise.
I agree with most of this, except I don't think Onouha is the solution at CB, and I'd leave out Anton before Clint.
They do it every single year Ozzie and its the same old faces that want us to join them in their fantasy world every Summer. One of them even has us down to finish in SIXTH place!!! I agree with you, its very very annoying indeed.
I'm very optimistic. We have much better players and a much better management team than this time last year and a truly outstanding set of owners. Fact is Jock you, Belfast and a couple of others just don't rate Hughes and seize any chance to have a go. That's fine, and after yesterday's result probably justified. But it's a long season, you wanted Warnock given the benefit of the doubt in perpetuity, I would like Hughes to have the same for a full season.
?? Why do you get so annoyed about posters who look at things differently to you and then whine on about 'freedom of expression' and people 'bleating to the mods' elsewhere? Each time you post this hypocritical nonsense and i see it I will raise my expectations for our finishing position. Yesterday I had 10th, now we are 9th. By the end of the week I will have us winning the next World Cup..... (let's see if we can have a laugh without it descending into abuse mate)
We've had a bad day yesterday against a team that are potentially going to do much better than expected. Hughes is the manager who sailed the ship home through very rocky seas. Managed a winning streak at home under huge pressure including a win against an Arsenal team that was on a six game winning streak. We have a better stating ,11 and a better squad than this time last year and we still survived. We had many bad days last year and don't forget man utd were rolled over by there biggest rivals at the start of the season and still ran the league title to the final seconds. A bad day for Qpr. Every team will have them. Be pragmatic , temper in the optimism a small amount but let's not panic.
Are you feeling okay today mate? Or are you just trying to wind me up? What in the name of all that is created has my annoyance of certain posters views got to do with "freedom of expression" and "bleating to the mods"? Show me where I said those people shouldn't be allowed express those views or that I'd reported them to the Mods. And how is it "hypocritical nonsense"? And finally, when did I ever abuse you instead of having a laugh?
