In Aluko we've finally got a winger who can cross and who isn't afraid to shoot from distance. Thank fook.
Aluko Koren McKenna Dudgeon and Simpson did very well but those are my 3. I thought Koren's contribution to the goal was excellent. It looked good first hand but even better on the replay, an amazing through ball to pick out Dudgeon's run. I can't understand the criticism McKenna gets, he's still a vital part of our team if you ask me.
the ref held his hands in the air for the goal (ie play_on), however i wonder if a penalty for the foul on Dudgeon would have been given had Simpson not scored? of course it dunt matter but still interested to know
when the bal came back off the bar, i immediately said to the bloke sat next to me it was almost a carbon copy of the John Hawley goal all those years ago in front of North Stand at BP against Sunderland. Bugger me, who comes on at half-time to make the draw?
Aluko Dudgeon McKenna I thought really close between Aluko and Dudgeon. Aluko gave us the spark we were missing last season but have to say was really impressed with Dudgeon who I think has improved over the summer, he looked really confident yesterday. McKenna as he often does put a hell of a shift in and did the dirty work in midfield, good effort on target as well.
As a referee you are not allowed to play play on in the box, you have to give a penalty or just let play go on and not play advantage. So if he did give a penalty he was actually breaking the rules.
Don't know if you saw the Reading vs Stoke game yesterday, but the ref gave Reading the advantage, when the shot was saved, he pulled it back for penalty. It may be breaking the rules, but I suspect that's what would've happen at the KC too.
I'm not sure it's even against the rules. There'd obviously be uproar if (using our incident as an example) the referee blew for the penalty just as Simpson knocked it in - and then we missed the penalty.
