Would the game appear better, or worse for supporters if the rules of the referees were to change? In particular, with respect to fouling... If they were a lot more lenient to fouls, and only pulled the game to a stop due to a serious challenge, would the game become more entertaining or less? How would the game change? Personally I think we'd see a huge step towards physicality, but also a lot more skill and flow enter the game as players look for new ways of getting around a player without being taken down. The amount of actual football in a game would increase, and there would be a complete end to diving. However, there'd be a lot more injuries and the maximum age of a footballer's peak years would be cut short as the physical demands increase. I'd still love to see a game where the referees were just a bit more relaxed; the word "foul" has lost it's original meaning over the years, and now players are being pulled up for the smallest thing. Unfortunately it's only going to get worse, until the people who have never played the game make the decision to make it a non-contact sport.
All I would say is the first penalty was very harsh and resulting in the red was just ridiculous. The second penalty was absolute pish. Their striker ran from behind Skrtel and tripped over him - Skrtel doesn't know he's there and doesn't change his stride at all! How can you give that?! That ref has lost all respect for me - as has Hansen to some extent, who said it was a clear penalty! Rubbish.
You're on a loser mate .agents/clubs view players as a commodity with at least half their value in their image; except their image is tied into being able to play (or be on tv) & round we go. They don't care about the fan because until the fans stops turning up, buying merchandise, buying Sky? They'll not listen to us. Even apart from that it's TV. From the age of 11 I played Hockey. Now many may laugh (see you on the pitch my eras rules & after 70 minute if you call it a girls game fair play) but when I started that was a contact sport played on grass. But it wasn't TV good. Now? It's a practically contactless sport, played on a surface tgat destroys knees (mine lol) with as many stops & rules as American Football but as long as TV (holland et al) likes it.....
As much as Liverpool amuse me, you didn't deserve today. To my eyes, Long dived on both occasions. Before the first penalty when he was tackled on the halfway line, oddly enough he managed to stay on his feet. Remarkable then how a brush from Agger knocked him down in the area.
As long as it's not a leg breaking challenge, or on the verge of injury then what's wrong with a good old fashioned tackle? We get leg breakers nowadays whether the referee stops it or not. I'd rather players like Bale didn't thrive to be honest, it'd be interesting to see how he'd do when he couldn't dive to get a free kick whenever he knows he's lost the ball.
Lucas' booking was ridiculous also, Suarez's was harsh he was the width of the pitch away from the assistant. I've often seen camel face and others from castle greyskull nose to nose with an assistant ref and .............. nothing.
I don't think you deserved to win: You cannot miss that many chances and expect to get away with it. But I don't think the result reflects the match. I can't stand this idea that if there's any contact, the player is within his rights to fall to the ground. I'd reserve judgement on your new manager/team based purely on that performance.
Even in the days of Norman Hunter, Chopper Harris and yes Tommy Smith, exactly how many legs were broken? There's a hell of a difference between a robust powerful tackle and an over-the-top foul. You also have to remember that it takes 2 players to make a tackle and the person who has possession of the ball has a responsibility to either pull out or possession themselves properly to take the the tackle.
Funny thing is Suarez beat the last defender and keeper last season on the first day but Richardson only got a yellow card. The referee was Phil Dowd. Today? Same thing happens but it was outside the box instead of inside the box and he still had the keeper to beat yet he still gave Agger a red card!? I'd accept the Agger red card if he hadn't made a different decision for an identical scenario last season!
jesus h christ , i forgot about carrolls booking olsonn batters him and gets away with it , agger dusts a fly off longs jersey and gets a red
This is true but there were a hell of a lot of guys practically crippled by the age of 45. Having said that they were on ten pounds a week. So there's an arguement that if you're on 12 million a year you can afford to be crippled at that age,.....except the tackles that cripple the rich footballer will be the same as those that cripple the poor one in the long run. But again; medical science, fitness, is all better & more long term injuries back then were caused by players playing with an injury.... But you get my point. Rugby seems to cope. Aussie rules copes......our lot are girls....
Agger knew Long was in and pushed him in the back to make him stumble and **** up the shot. It's the kind of thing that goes unnoticed every week but it's still ****ing cheating! Second one I didn't agree with at all....Alan Hansen did mind! How pathetic do you lot sound blaming the referee and claiming the F.A. is out to get you etc. Look at the amount of money you spend on your squad compared to W.B.A. You have no excuses. If people at Liverpool are doing their jobs properly you beat them every week. Just be gracious in defeat fer feck's sake. If Suarez had scored that goal Gera did you'd have collectively torn your cock's off. You'd be talking about it 8 years down the line. Tits.
Confirmation indeed that you are a spastic The idea has been floating around for a while. Anyhow off to bed with you now , you don't want to keep the blue bus waiting in the morning
Why? Because I pointed out you were second best and there isn't a conspiracy against you. You ****ing loser.
No, because you're an obsessed prick. Your team had a great win today but you'ld rather be on here patronising us
Suarez is a very skilful player but he's borderline hopeless at finishing. Brendan Rodgers will be ****ting himself this evening!
I point out it's pathetic for a club of your size and budget to whine about the referee and the F.A. instead of giving West Brom some credit, and your response? I'm a spastic ...and you're a moderator?!? Awwww, do you not like to hear criticism? Have a ****ing tissue.
