After a few beers I started to think about what we really missed today and I wondered what difference it would have made if we had Barton in midfield breaking up there playmakers. I know hes a pratt but I think we missed him today. Any Thoughts
He tweeted this an hour ago "I don't half miss playing at St James's Park. Proper, proper football fans, city and stadium. #ToonArmy
It's recognised by many as a great place to play, why take it personally? Why take it in isolation or are we just going to ignore his previous well wishing tweets today?! Think the thread is right, could have done with him today. I've said it in numerous Barton posts that because of his rep people ignore what he brings to the team.
Even with Faurlin, we still need another CM as we only have Diakite, Faurling and Derry, we only have Cisse, Johnson and Zamora up front and only have Onuoha, Hill and Ferdy at the back.....so Hughes will go out and buy 3 more attacking midfielders!
That's the point he will never stand out, he's not a flair player with little tricks and flicks or surging runs. He will break up play, run his arse off end to end and play simple balls linking defence to mid and mid to forward. Not glamorous but effective and also the most fouled player last year.
I don't think we missed Joey specifically, we just missed a fit dedicated CM. Park was decent enough, but he's more of a winger. Diakite was okay, but he's had a very disrupted preseason, and dropped too deep quite often, giving us less of a presence in midfield. I think we missed Faurlin...or Ki Sung Yung, maybe even Bosingwa could do a job?
